| I have several kids in the district and I can't afford the dress code, but I do my best. As I told them when the dress code first came - if parents worried more about their kids appearance in the first place, then this never would have happened. I got tired of going to the school and seeing girls dressed like prostitots with their thongs and cleavage hanging out, and made up to look like they belong on a corner or something, and young men in wife-beater T-shirts and baggie pants slung so low that their cracks showed. I asked one kid if her mom let her dress like that, and she said no. She snuck the clothes out of the house and changed on the way to school. Her friend said that her mom let her, because her mom was cool. I even saw a kid skateboarding one day, who tried some stunt and ended up with his pants around his ankles - he had NO underwear on.

or hes i just a man hahahahha not all of us have money to keep up with the dress code you are right . i do not mind going along with it- it is just that the school is not going along with it. they made the rules but they are not in forcing it . it seems that in the higher grades they are a lot more forceful then they are in the lower grades . every grade level should be treated the same. (2nd grader can wear black cameo-10th grader can not ) is that right no.

| you must be a non parent or one that has money to blow or only care how your child looks....caring only about your child gets the world no where! for your info its a forum not writing class!

| Just so you know, the Capital Letter key is to the left on your keyboard. Capital Letters are used to begin sentences. Perhaps instead of worrying about clothes, you could model proper writing for your child. Just a suggestion, of course. Last edited on Thu Nov 20th, 2008 01:57 am by Ricky

when the idea of a dress code was brought to our attention we had a meeting about it....i was there most of the people did not want the dress code.why do we have it....
what we were told....
1.security reasons...we know who belongs there
2.cheaper on parents that are less fortunate
3.no child can be made fun of they all dress the same
well guess what..
1.our unifoms can be bought anywhere..in our own closets
2.im poor it ended up costing me more having to buy uniforms and clothes for after school and weekends
3.kids can tell the difference between aero polos and walmart polos
4.after a while they look dirty and just plain nasty (stained) the bottom line is the uniform policy is a joke..favortism plays a big role..one girl dyes her hair blue gets suspended till it comes out...one dyes hair red..nothing happens..my main question is what happens in the real world the school started of by saying business attire is ok but that depends on the principle...its a school district whats good for one should be good for all.when our children get in the real world are the going to be able to decide on their own whats appropriate for a job interview or will they be going to it wearing solid polo shirts in grey, white, blue, and a pair of jeans ...wheres the self expression these kids will start expressing themselves in other ways like cutting themselves theres quite a few in lake district already,or how about thinking that they can only express themselves in sex....our kids are told when to do everything.....my son was made to remove an undershirt due to it being the wrong color...thats all he had so he was cold the rest of the day in school...its hard to think while your cold....the biggest problem is that while they are doing uniform checks they could be teaching...whats more important?half the kids in that school (wtc)if given a test for placement would end up in a lower grade than where they are at now.favortism plays a big part in this school if your parents work or volunteer there or your just popular your allowed to get away with murder.i have had it....join me at the board meeting on the first thursday of the month theres a lot to discuss
