I'd like to address the issue about traffic in the alley ways in Harrington. As a person living next to an alley, I have seen on numerous occasions vehicles speeding through the alley with no regard to children playing or pedestrians that may be walking on the sidewalk that may be blindsided from alley traffic. It is only a matter of time before someone is hurt or maybe even killed by this recklessness. Last year I saw 2 vehicles either racing or chasing each other through the alley. If anyone had been walking down the sidewalk it would have been disastrous. Both vehicles were going so fast when they did apply their brakes, both slid out into the street. Luckily there wasn't any oncoming traffic at the time or pedestrians in the area. Daily I notice vehicles rushing through the alley, not slowing down till they are on the sidewalk to look for traffic. I guess they forget children may be playing nearby or riding a bike or that someone may be taking a leisurely walk down the sidewalk. With school letting out soon, please remind your children to watch for the vehicles that are definitely not watching for them at the alley exits. Maybe the city needs to make some changes to the alleys. Perhaps putting a few speed bumps at each end of the alleys would save a life.
