| I have to agree, an unkept property becomes an eye sore and when out of staters come thru town, they see stuff like that and its not good.

| I was talking about houses that are not up for sale and taken care of, I know the market is bad, I was talking about the homes that was vacant for years and not maintained to code, people just closed the door and left them empty. Now the City of Harrington has a ordienance to go by and to enforce, if home is deserted, I don't feel sorry for you, property that are not taken care of are a eyesore to the town and the people that trys to keep their homes up, it also brings down more value to mine.

| Guese you have noticed that we are in hard times. Homes are not selling, businesses aren't selling, people don't have money, banks aren't lending money to buy homes, buildings and businesses. Wake up!! Give us a break!!

I just want to know if the city of harrington is enforceing their code that they created, looks like there are not. They rather try to get more fees from us living in the City.
ยง 108-1 Vacant buildings prohibited.
It shall be unlawful for an owner to suffer or permit a building or structure to remain unoccupied within the City limits of the City of Harrington. For the purpose of this chapter, a building or structure shall be considered unoccupied when it is no longer being used for the accustomed and ordinary purpose of the building or structure.

If a residential building or structure remains unoccupied for a period of six months, the owner shall be assessed the sum of $200. For each month or portion thereof thereafter that the residential building or structure remains unoccupied, the owner shall be assessed the sum of $100.
