Jimmy Grille in Dewey Beach may face fines!!!!!!!!!!!
The restaurant, which opened its doors Memorial Day weekend, was granted a temporary, 30-day occupancy permit with conditions. One of those conditions included installing garage doors on the gazebo-style building, which were to be closed at 11 p.m. each night, according to Mayor Dell Tush.
"The temporary permit was issued in good faith," she said. "We wanted to be good neighbors, but the plans we approved are not being complied with, and now they're arguing they submitted a different set of plans, plans that never actually came back to Town Council."
The restaurant is owned by Alex Pires, who is affiliated with several other businesses in Dewey. Because the approved plans for Jimmy's Grille are not being followed, he could be cited and fined between $100 and $500 every day the restaurant is open.
Town officials said his temporary permit expired June 21, and that fines have been issued. The restaurant reopened for its scheduled Thursday through Sunday opening June 25.
