| PTG, I'll give even money that Carney ends up with another job at the gummint trough. He'll survive on the public teat for the rest of his career just like the guy he wanted to fill in for.

| He got the chance to compete on a level playing field in two years. I wouldn't cry too many of them crocodile tears, though...I suspect that he'll have no problem finding a job.

| Carney got what he deserved. May he rest in peace and find a job in the real world.

| Nope, Ruthie just announced one of Biden's ex staff members is going to be the place holder for Beau [my opinion only] . Ole John got kicked to the curb again. I was never terribly impressed by Carney but this is sure a kick in the teeth I don't think his friends should be happy about. The love from the Party just ain't there, bro....

| Now that Beau Joe has officially bowed out of the running, I'm betting on Joe hanging in for the best deal from Markell.

| He doesn't have to, but probably will, CR. If he doesn't, the replacement Senator will be lower in seniority than anyone else who starts on January 3rd, so he almost certainly will resign before then.

| On the contrary, Biden doesn't have to resign his seat until he is sworn in as V-P. Last edited on Thu Nov 6th, 2008 03:30 am by Playing the Game

I believe the Senate reconvenes the beginning of January 2009. Biden will have to give up his seat prior to Markell becoming governor.. That leaves Minner with the power to appoint.

No chance Castle goes to the Senate. Hartlyboy's right, no chance Harry Reid puts up with that.
IMO, Ruth Ann appoints herself, then steps aside in 2010. 2 years @ $160,000 per, plus perks, sure helps the Social Security.

| I would be quite surprised if Markell puts Castle in the Senate. He votes like a Democrat but has a R after his name and that would bother Harry Reid and his fillabuster balances.

| Don't be surprised if Markell appoints Castle to the Senate to maintain some seniority and voice for Delaware in Washington. That would then allow him to appoint a crony to the House and both seats would be up for election in 2 years.

| She'll have a bunch of people to choose from. My favorite is Judge Myron Steele.

Dear Governor Minner,
Please closely consider John Carney as the Number one selection for the Vacancy left by Vice President Elect Jospeh Biden. Only if " you chose the Senate Seat other than Mr. Carney" will Delaware remain in the most knowledgeable of hands.
