I disagree that McCain and/or his statement was racist. Let's take it at face value.
What I think McCain wanted to do was one of two things. The first is that he wanted to get the phrase "The One" into the debate in a negative tone. That was the best he could do, and it sounded awkward, as most forced sound bites do.
The second was a way that some people prepare for debates, or fights. McCain wanted to objectify his opponent, and I suspect he woudl have done the same thing regardless of who he was against.

| I would just like to say that McCain is got to be racist. I heard he called Barack "That One". What is that supposed to mean? I hope Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson get involved and put him in his place. Obama 08 Y'all

A careful reading of the post would indicate I've never said anything about signs on private property. If you want your place looking like a circus lot , go for it. I just don't appreciate your trash on property we jointly own alongside the roads we drive on.
Also, dufus, a little upgrade on your world perspective. DOFUS is an internet game played by devotees who send messages to each other in copious quantities about their 'quests'. I would think a sign-posting Democrat would fit the term dofus very well. Last edited on Wed Oct 1st, 2008 05:10 pm by Hartlyboy

Hartlyboy. Interesting observation. I don't like campaign signs either, but it's my right as a land owner to allow them on my property. It's also against the law to tresspass on private property or to do so with the intent to commit a crime. By the way, it's "dufus" not dofus. If your are going to use a word, know how to spell it.

| So, this dofus figures it's Bush's fault that some Dems are losing signs? The Republicans in Delaware aren't organized enough to think up a sign stealing campaign. And, are there only Dem signs being stolen or is it the same complaint the Republicans have? Frankly, I wish someone would steal every d**n road sign, Democrat and Republican and developer and grind 'em into mulch. This State looks crappy enough with the fast food trash and beer cans alongside the road and we don't need more visual pollution. If you are too stupid to know who to vote for , you shouldn't be allowed to vote if you do it based on the numbers of signs these politicians stick out along the road.

| Appears to be just the signs promoting Democrats. Not good in any case.

| Why is it that your signs and not your neighbors are being stolen?

I guess the Republicans are getting desperate. They know their leader has the lowest ratings of any President, their party is in tatters and they have no leadership at either the national or local levels. Now they seem to be stooping to the lowest levels possible; tresspassing onto private property to steal campaign signs from local yards. In the last two weeks, I've have every yard sign in my yard stolen. It's interesting that the Republican signs in neighbors' yards remain in place. I can only conclude that Delaware GOP members and supporters are stooping to the levels of lies, deceipt and a lack of integrity that their leadership has exhibited for 8 years. The Bushweller campaign has lost 60+ signs and had others vandalized. The Darryl Scott campaign has lost numerous signs, as have Matt Denn, Allen Angel and others. Lets keep politics aboveboard, folks. These types of GOP efforts are why I'm supporting change. From the White House to the County Building, it's time to have some integrity. That's why I hope we'll support the Obama/Biden ticket, Jack Markell, Matt Denn, Brian Bushweller, Darryl Scott and Allen Angel for election in November. Whether it's yard signs, Iraq or Wall Street, the Bush Administration has led by example. It's been one deceipt, blunder and theft after another and it's an example of why we need change.
