First of all let me say that I am new to the forum. Secondly I usually just read everyones ranting on here but found this time that I needed to make a comment. I was offended by "toocoolforschool" when you said that people on welfare should be drug tested to make sure they aren't buying drugs with your so called tax money!
My family gets food stamps and money from the state each month. Just because some people get this doesn't mean that they really want it or because they want to use the money on drugs. I myself have never done drugs not so much as smoked a cigarette. I have been applying everywhere to get a job to get off this because I don't like to be on it. But because of "our" so called good Government I didn't have a choice.
My Fiance was injured and was misdiagnosed twice. He is unable to work right now because he has had surgery and is set to have surgery again. One of his problems is from his injury he got nerve damage so he has not been cleared to go back to work. He has tried to apply for disability but has been denied even though he has multiple Doctors backing him up. We have 3 children which come first and MUST be taken care of.
I'm definately not going to let them do without just because of what is going on with us now. The sooner I get back to work the better and then the sooner we can get off the food stamps and money. By the way I have worked my whole life until this happened and we've also put all our tax money in the economy. So if you see it this way we are using our own money.
So next time you want to assume that everyone that is on welfare is a drug addict and must be urine tested.....get the facts. Don't generalize everyone in the same group.

| Excuse me y'all but dont you think that this would be an invashon of privacy? Just because someone is on welfare dont give you the right to butt in there life and treat them like no criminal. Its none of your busness what people do with there unemployment money, they pay taxes on it! Mind your busness please!

| You must be a drug abuser on welfare. And you must be racist for assuming that I'm talking about a particular group of people! I'd like to hear a good reason why drug testing wouldn't be a good idea...there are hard working people in this world who want to work, and are required to pass a drug screening test. Only a warped liberal would disagree with this!

| Someone who has accepted a position for a job is usually subject to a pre-employment drug screening just to work! There are thousands of people that abuse the welfare system, and other government programs. Why not propose a plan to drug test all welfare recipients in order to be eligible for government programs such as Medicaid, foodstamps,unemployment, and Section 8? Not only would this significantly reduce the amount of eligible applicants, it would ensure goverment money wasn't going towards the purchase of illegal drugs.
