Each district is asked to participate in the Mock Election. (grades 4-12) The district is supposed to get "coordinators" for each school.  Participation depends on how the coordinator for the school promotes it and how it is "run".  High schools tend to have good participation and the election, candidates, issues, etc. are typically discussed in social studies classes.  But again, each district is different in how it is handled.  The ballot consisted of several races:  President, Governor, Lt. Gov, Senate, U.S Rep., and Insurance Commish.  Each race included all candidates running.  The districts received the results that day-overall district results and a breakdown of every school.

Nice! Love it!

I would question the issue of whether or not a class had only Obama posters in it.  I seriously doubt that would happen, but if someone knows the name of the school, let's hear it.

Why would you need to know about a mock election in your school?  If it is like most, it is simply a popularity contest and obviously reflects, for the most part, what they hear at home. For example, my kids' school had one, and McCain will win that mock election.  I am not gnashing my teeth or anything, as I know it tends to reflect the demographics of the parents who send their kids to school. However, my son, who has a bit of the contrarian streak I've got, wore his Obama tee shirt under his uniform and showed it to his teachers, more to annoy them then anything else.

That is more official than I expected, and am glad to hear about it.

So TrailerPark....did you find out what, if any, information was told to the kids? I'm betting that very little was actually put out, but maybe deteach can help tell us what the policy might be....

The offical Mock Election ballot distributed by the Capital School District and used by many school throughout the state lists candidates from each major and seven different minor parties.  Just thought I'd share.  This could easily be checked and even likely been provided a copy at any school in the district that participated.

It was a mock election and they only gave two candidate for them to choose from.

My concern is what th  6 to 10 yeard old were told and by who ?

Is Capital school district trying teach kindergartens that, Obama is already the president ? K thru 4 is what the school teaches

5 year old told me his teacher said Obama is our President  and she has his photo in their class . Seems no photo of Mccain

School admits of haveing  both Photo's of McCain and Obama all over the school , claims it was for mock election

Should 5 years olds be   fed the propaganda?

Is this what we pay taxes for  ? Why are our kids being use ?
