PTG... you can always show your support by donating to the causes for the rights of sex offenders. But going on every post and leaving a comment is not only bigoted, but you know if you leave so many in a 24 hour period, it can be harrassing. How do you explain that a school music teacher, a special ed teacher (son of the famous coach), and another teacher (future son-in-law of a board member) at Caesar Rodney all have been conviceted of having legal sex, but charged in a position of trust. Does that make them rapist for life. Why do we not have A DUI/DWI registry? A domestic Violence registry? They have one for child abouse, but it is private. As I said, to people like you, Sex Offenders are the new N------.... and you better believe it.

BTW... your flashing my cause around helps too. if you wanna be a bigot, be one. but fight against child predators, not sex offenders. Those are two different areas.

Guess I should have expected it, but I didnt give it a second thought! My cat came home so miserable that it frustrated me, then when I called down there the young girl who answered the phone said there must have been something going on that day because I was like the 4th person that called in.

Our cat picked up fleas during a trip to our Vet's office.  With so many animals

coming in and out of these types of facilities, it is nearly  impossible to control.

Use Frontline on your cat and it won't get fleas no matter where it goes.  I'm sure the SPCA is pretty strapped and can't afford to Frontline (or Advantage) every animal that comes in, although they do their best with bathing and cleaning.  Any large kennel that has strays and neglects coming in all the time is going to have a hard time being flea-free.   It's just a fact that any animal that goes outside at all or has contact with one, can wind up with fleas.   We have cats that don't go out but we Frontline them, since they would get them from out dogs if we didn't do all of the animals.

I have been there lately as a family member has been volunteering there.  All I've seen is a bunch of hardworking, caring people who are doing their best with what they have.  I adopted 2 dogs from there 2 years ago and never had a problem.  We did bathe and Frontline within a couple of days but as far as I know, we never had a problem.

I felt the need to be brighter.  There is a strong need for Conservatives to shine for the next few years until we retake the government.

If you want to see something nasty, go to the kent county SPCA and go to the after hours drop off. Rustle the stuff in the cages and watch all of the roaches come out.

Dear Playing..

I HAVE to laugh at YOU! Me hateful? By far not! It is a legitimate concern, truthfully. Take aside whatever your thoughts were when you read this, and read it for what it was meant to be...a concern. Do you know what happens to animals if they go to a home that does not treat them for the fleas? What pain the animal itself goes through and can inevitably lead to death? The health problems is what my concern is. Not saying they are all bad people that work at the SPCA, I know they aren't...I have volunteered there.

As far as the homeless shelter comment...I am NOT beyond that. I helped out the homeless initiative here in Dover. I worked the intake, preparing dishes, and serving the shelter guests. How about you Playing? When was the last time you helped out anything in our area?

You should really not judge someone by a concern they raise. It was and is legitimate. Afterall, this is a public forum where someone should feel they can come and gather input on situations.

Do you or your spouse or child work there? Is that why you got so defensive over my concern? If that is the case, please let them know that it is a situation that creates a lot of UNNECESSARY discomfort for any animal.

Are you just naturally a hateful person or did the fleas get in your white wool rug?

The SPCA does a wonderful job and I am truly sorry it didn't meet your Country Club standards.

Next time look elswhere for a pet.  BTW have you been to a homeless shelter for humans recently?  You could get fleas there too.

We adopted a kitten from the SPCA awhile back...when we got her she had fleas..I figured that was not the end of the world but still, gross. Took her to our vet, got her treated, got rid of them and we were ok. By the way they told us the kitten was 8 weeks old, the vet confirmed it was only 4 weeks old.
We took her back to the SPCA to be fixed, (as part of the agreement when adopting) guess what..we got fleas AGAIN!
Another trip to the vet, more medication and one heck of an itchy cat! Not to mention the clean up required in the home, the constant cleaning and running the vacuum.
It amazes me that the SPCA gets the funding they do, and can not clean up properly when doing surgery on the animals that they end up getting fleas. Who is it that oversees their funding and to make sure the SPCA is is doing what it is supposed to be doing.
It is supposed to stand for Society for Prevention and Cruelty to Animals. My cat came home so drugged up and sick, the girl was really swinging her crate around, banged her crate into the door, and literally instead of bending over to set the crate down dropped it from about 10 inches off the floor..and then the poor thing was given fleas on top of having surgery.
If anyone else has dealt with this let me know. If anyone knows who it is you can complain to, I would like to know.
Don't get me wrong I think the philosophy behind the SPCA is great, which is why when we decided to get another pet we went to the SPCA. I also donate bleach/paper towels and food fairly regularly (4 times a year) but this really bothers me. If they cleaned the area properly, and if they would have put her in her own crate instead of stacking her with other cats, this never would have happened. I am just so disgusted and disappointed in the SPCA. They have some great volunteers, (we; myself and older kids, used to volunteer down there as well) plus there are some well paid people who work there. But how can they let this happen? How can a vet be willing to perform surgery in those conditions? They have to see the darn fleas when they are shaving the cat for surgery. What are they thinking? Thanks for letting me vent!  :X
