I find Acme's prices to be outrageous.

Check out Redner's Market which opened last week.  It is located in North Dover on Rt 13 in the South bound lanes, near Christian Crossroads Church.

They are open 24hrs a day. I highly recommend checking it out!

I grew up in a family of 7 children.  Meat was a rarity and a Sunday treat.  You can eat healthy without meat 7 days a week.

Can't buy meats at a dollar store, so it is necessary to go elsewhere, although, it does not have to be Acme. And yes I had thought about the employees after I had written my first post.

In my opinion, stores are having to make up for not raising your prices in the beginning.  You weren't complaining at that point.  Now, in order to make up their losses they are keeping some prices higher than what maybe they should be.

Maybe the government should fix all the prices all the time so we can get stuff cheap.  Oh wait, then we'll be living in China or some other socialist country.

Don't jump of the deep end buddy. According to a cnn.com story, wholesale prices are dropping now.  That means your prices at local stores will begin to drop also.  Just in time for your planned action at Food Lion and Acme.  That makes a lot of sense.

My goodness, you are an angry person.  Any other posts that you direct to me will not be answered.

The reason for this is so that if they need to keep someone past there scheduled hours they don't have to pay them overtime ( over 40 hrs per week ) and I also believe this to be true with Acme but I'm not positive.

I do know that Wal-Mart and Foodlion don't treat there clerks very good, but again Acme store has a union that protect them and I think that without the union Acme wouldn't treat there employes any better.

By buying early you would only help the stores and you are trying to send a message to because they would just cut hrs if they are not busy and send the clerks home early.

The best way to send a message to them is by just not buying when you have to buy large numbers of a item  to get a good sale price.

By the way why would you even want to shop at Acme if you can get a better deal at Dollar General?

Lashing out at the unknown is not the answer, educate yourself before acting out.

You need to change your user name, a peacemaker you are not.  Everything that I wrote is fact, go to the stores mentioned if you don't believe me.  Someone questioned the price of diesel fuel here are some recent prices:

This is from a Smyrna, Delaware forum but you may be having the same problems in your area, just by changing the names of the stores mentioned.

Ok, people, as we all know gas prices have gone down to a somewhat reasonable price.  When gas prices went up so did grocery prices but we haven't seen them coming down at all.  Why is that?  I am sure that their delivery trucks are paying a lower price for gas also.

Some of these grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day for several hours,
do not go there! Make sure that you have everything that you need for that day and even if you don't, surely you can do without that little item that you forgot to get.  If your house is like ours we always have more food than we really need anyway.

Go to
http://www.acme.com or http://www.foodlion.com and complain to the CEO about their prices.

The most reasonable place for a gallon of milk is Rite-Aid @$3.29.

Eggs are cheaper at the Amish farms, they don't sell on Sundays. Also, Walmart.

This may not have a lot of impact, but it will have some.  Tell everyone that you know,
DO NOT GO TO THE GROCERY STORE ON THANKSGIVING DAY!

Make them hurt, like we are hurting.

I hate store sales that tell the consumer, you must buy 5, you must buy ten etc. to get a deal.  Many of the people that I know are having trouble buying just one of anything.  Acme this week, Cake Mixes @ .49 each but you must buy ten, how many of you want 10 cake mixes at a time.  You can go to the Dollar General and get a box of cake mix for $1.00. and you don't have to spend $5.00 to get it. Quaker Chewy Granola Bars are $2.50 at Dollar General and $3.49 at Acme. Of course they may not have all varities at the DG but I don't mind for the price. Liquid laundry detergents half the price at the dollar store.

Does anyone know if it is true that the Acme only hires part-time employees so that they don't have to pay benefits.
