You know the old saying HB, you can lead a horse to water but,---- People are complacent, lazy, irresponsible, and the "system" has only career politicians. Alto, I'll say that more repub. than dems retire after 20 or so years.
The people that do go out and vote are not given much to work with. I was never so dissappointed to go and cast a vote in a national election, then I was in the state of Delaware. What a NON event. Either the states must form a ballot process, that is cohesive, coherent, and not subject to "hanging chads etc. and give the people a viable alternative to vote for someone else than the printed ballot. I know that is a "pie in the sky" and rather simplistic .
The persons who want to run for any kind of gov't. have to have money. I was shocked, that just to say "I want to run" in the state of DE costs over 5 thousand dollars and as I understand it that money is NON- refundable.

| And why do we sit back and allow people we have repeatedly said we trust less then car salesman, to dictate health care plans for all of us when it won't be applicable to them since they have a super special deal because of their 'positions'? Why?

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why? We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

Exactly. There is no realistic difference between the two major parties except for how quickly they will implement the end game.
Those of us who still believe in a true speration (and therefore balance) of party idealism have no realistic, true candidate - yet.
Personally I just dont believe the 1/2 full glass we are being given to quench our thirst.
Because the real muscle would still be the same old players in the House and Senate.

That is an interesting statement; care to share with us the difference?

Well said. I can forsee that both parties as we know them are doomed. Liars are always eventually found out, its the way of the cosmos. The R's are too flacid to defend themselves even when the wolves have thier necks...and such a huge fraud as the D party cannot go on in the dark for much longer.
Thr R's are moving left - even more than Bush was, and the D's are breaking new ground in the far left outfield!
Soon, the populace will become entirely disenchanted and we will see a massive socio-poiltico-economic correction.
Those of us who yearn for the center (not moderate-ism) just dont have a viable candidate yet.

| Bixo - I know you know better - "Chairmen" of committees are always from the majority party with a senior oposition party member at their side. There have been plenty of GOP "lifers" that stayed for too long and Dems too. Together these types decided to keep running for re-election to office untill they were either too sick or croaked. Vicious personal attacks finished off some good younger Republicans that were untra-conservatives and the Dems called them "mean spirited." It's a Clinton tactic - calling your opponent names that best describes your own cut-throat politics. Once the personal attack begins it never ceases and the liberal TV media are the attack dogs. Talk about a giant left-wing cabal! Mrs. Clinton claimed there was a "huge right-wing cabal" against her - it was a lie. Poor old George Bush got beat up daily by the left wing media and incessant ranting against him by the Democrats calling him a "liar." He saved the country from being attacked again and for his troubles he was kicked in the teeth. He did not know many he could trust, they were all "mean spirited." A book is yet to be written about the most underhanded, two-faced, self-serving, and despicable people ever to be in Washington at the same time where they practice all forms of chacanery in the US Congress and they are contemptible Democrats who all seem to have a dominant genome in their DNA for lying. Compassion has been replaced by selfishness. They are political bigots!

Bixby -- falls on deaf democrat ears to the detriment of every American. We need term limits on all elected officials.Last edited on Fri May 1st, 2009 08:41 pm by Two Cents

| Along those same lines an interesting note came up. One reason that Republicans have less power in the Congress, besides pure numbers, is that there are very few in senior or chairman positions. This is due to the fact that fewer Republicans than Democrats elect to be career politicians as opposed to Democrats who are well content in the "way-of-life" and remain for longer periods in the Congress. Looking back over a 20 year period, for example, more Republicans chose to retire to private enterprise rather than government service, even in their "good times." The Founding Fathers felt that one should remain for short durations of public service and return to their private pursuits, a recommendation that falls short on Democrat ears much to the detriment of Republicans.

The US Congress will never adopt "term limits" to send them home to the state that sent them to retire there. The Washington "lifestyle" is just too good! We saw the Republicans do nothing for eight years and we said nothing. Now these same ones who survived the Obama landslide election sends us mail to donate to their continued retirement in office. The GOP is now more of a "caucus" than a political force. Under Bush these people were on "breaks" more than getting things done - like curbing illegal IMMIGRATION ACROSS OUR BORDER for starters.
Lindsay Graham (R, SC) among them made a speech in the Senate calling for emergency action, then quickly he disappeared on vacation. Congressman J.D.Heyward was making a speech on the House floor and said "We get nothing done because we're never here long enough - we're always talking about the next adjournment." Heyward was ganged up on and he lost his seat.
The Washington way-of-life numbs the mind of incumbents in the Senate and House. They stick around far too long being adressed as "A most honorable member of this body of the United States Congress." All they do is vote their party's line. Joe Biden is a perfect example of growing stupid in Washington.
My plan is to support only local and state level candidates, not the national level campaigns. I'm not keeping the same ones in Washington any longer who screwed up the country. That includes all incumbents from Delaware. Obama is running circles around them and putting this country in a hole so deep financially, our grandkids will be in debt as long as they live. Let them come home and tell us about who sank the ship-of-state.
