Wow Fred, what could be worse than our gubbmint FORCIBLY TAKING WHATEVER WEALTH I CAN MANAGE TO GET MY HANDS ON and giving it to someone else who didn't even work for it?
Somehow you see an upside to that?
How about you VOLUNTARILY send me about 5% of whatever you make from now on; if you really think it's not such a bad idea?

The guy who you would hand it to would either hand it to them, or say, "no pickles, please"...or sell it on eBay.
What you don't get is the following...
1. No one "wants" many of the things you complain about, but they are the programs they feel are needed to remedy solutions. If the loud mouths who blather about this or that program and why it is so socialisticismer then anything else and said what the alternative is AND the consequences, maybe we'd be better off.
2. The American people support what the administration is doing. Maybe not forever, but right now they do. They aren't happy about it, but they know that some of these things are where we are making the best of a bad situation.
Which really is what it comes down to....making the best of a bad situation. Given as how the restructing/bankruptcy of GM is going to negatively effect millions, do you see that letting them fail out would have effected many more...and much worse? Do you really think that anyone here wants this deal? Think about what...what is the upside for anyone? The union? Shoot...at worst, they are now in bed with management, making their attempts at making it a us versus them a bit tougher, wouldn't you say? The bond holders don't want it, but they realize that this is the only way they have a chance of getting some of their money back. And the government doesn't want to do it, and if there was a better idea, SOMEONE would have come up with it instead of spouting crap out.
I don't like the bailouts, but I see that the alternatives would have made the situation a whole lot worse.

Barrak Hussein O'Bama and Joe "The Sheriff" Biden went out for a Cheesburger and the attendant HANDED IT TO THE PEOPLE NEXT IN LINE AFTER IT WAS PAID FOR?
Thats what I would do if I was a burger seller!
I do think that would stimulate SOMEONE!
