You don't need tougher inspection just real ones or none.

They did for years. They also picked certain models and years and all you had to do was mail in your money. No drive threw. Call DMV and ask when they stopped.

All motor vehicle inspections should either be toughened or abandoned.    I go to the dmv and they ascertain that my lights operate, my windshield wiper motor works (doesn't matter if the rubber in the wiper blades is absent or ineffective), the horn sounds, the car doesn't pollute too much and the brakes will stop it from a speed of about 3 MPH.    The inspection is a farce.    If we must have inspections, let's have real inspections by real technicians.    Better yet, let's just abandon them.

Medium an Heavy trailers only need a DOT inspection.
In this state you drive threw a lane that is a joke when it comes to inspections.

The vehicles and trailers still have to be inspected every year, the difference is that in those states who allow for mail in registration, you pay a rather substatial fee to go to a private garage, licensed by the State to perform inspections.

This small state needs to get rid of the inspection lanes and make it mail order. Other states are cashing in on our antique ways. Take note a lot of trailers from trucking companies are registered in Maine and large motor homes Wyoming. Maine has 5 year registration and mail in renewals with a non residencies clause.

Kind of makes me wonder what function is now performed by the people whose job it was to send those remonders.   I know they were computer-generated, but somebody oversaw and intervened in that process -- probably several state employees.

I just registered 2 for renewal. no notice was sent out. I asked at the deck and was told a stop notice was sent explaining no more renewal reminders.
I still had an old one for a car I had sold. They were a wait of money.

Just to clarify, the letter was about them not sending letters anymore, it wasn't a reminder.

Delaware has Never sent out notices on vehicle registrations, only drivers licenses. I've been driving for 49 years and have never seen one.

Look at the sticker on your license plate. That's your reminder.

It is called accepting personal responsibility for your life.  Why should my tax dollars be spent sending you a reminder.  Mark in on your calendar, put a note on the fridge.  It ain't rocket science.

The State of De has very quietly stopped sending out reminders to renew your vehicle registration on your cars. Be aware of when your registration runs out because you could help close the budget deficit without realizing it. My neighbor got nailed in Felton for his registration being 4 days overdue without knowing it because he never got a reminder, who stops to think of it until the card show up in the mail.
