Editor’s note: The following is a copy of an open letter to the Sussex County Council submitted to the Delaware State News for publication.
Dear Council Members:
I own to pieces of property in the development called Pemperton in Milton Delaware. I put my life savings into the property and my home there along with my sweat and hard work on my property. I strongly oppose that the property listed as 28 acres ¾ mile west of Wagamons to be re-zoned for heavy commercial and or commercial zoning, by the Baker Family.
This zoning is described as H-1 which list it as the HEAVIEST INDUSTRIAL ZONING POSSIBLE. This could only mean chemical and dangerous substances that would not only destroy Milton but would contaminate the land causing possible long term injuries to the citizens of Milton.
This would also subject the town and the county to numerous lawsuits, by the citizens of Milton to protect our property and children. This will also effect our children who are living here in Milton. Please for the sake of the children please do not allow this to happen to our fine community.
Please council members put yourselves in my place how would you like this happen to your home, family and your town. Once again thank you for your time and patience in listing to me may god bless you in making a proper decision. Once again I STRONGLY STRONGLY OPPOSE THIS RE-ZOINING REQUEST BY THE BAKER FAMILY. Please keep me advised of your final decision.
