| Hey Someone, it's an easy chain to follow. Somebody saw a streetsweeper, assumed it was the town's and bitched about somebody doing some actual work. Read into it it was a town street, ergo it's our Ex-Faux King's fault it needed fixing (a bit of a stretch, but I can see it). Then somebody thought his sister sold street sweepers, so that's why it was sweepting a street that isn't there any more. The Ex-Faux King's brother sells security equipment, so it stands to reason he sells listening devices to spy on good decent citizens and try to ruin their reputations and livelyhood. That leads to a discussion of who should come back from the past (Smyrna's twisted version of 'Back To The Future') and correct all that's wrong with the Town. Don't forget to spin in the "in my opinions" to ward off lawsuits, take 2-3 percocette's and a shot of Jack Daniels, and it'll all make sense. Almost. Damn near makes ya dizzy, don't it!!!!!!!!

Hillbilly vermin rings such a bell. I grew up with her and boy is that that fitting. The whole camera thing is just so insane. Why would you want to do that unless you were unnaturally obsessed? Strange creatures. Glad they aren't my neighbors!

From what I saw, the "Hizzoner's Closet" column was dead on the money, straight to the point, well executed political satire. The journalists reportedly enjoyed it too.

You think this is mean, you should have been here a couple of years ago when things were really rough. Before Cahill vs Shaeffer. You mean that nice people don't speak the truth, though, when you say that nice people don't talk like that??? Believe what you want. I'm talking about a pattern of manipulation and not very nice behavior on the part of ONE person who is probably not even in the area or posting on the board anymore. It's not TAATS. At least I never thought it was. I think you're reading way more into this than what it merits. I'm so done.
Btw, to someone below, sorry, can't remember who posted- I heard Pat and Julie were moving awhile back, I guess they did? Can't say that I blame them, I hope things go well for them. I didn't know them terribly well but from what I knew and when I'd met them, they were genuinely nice people.

Geez louise, I'm not threatening anybody!!!! I'm responding to his assertation that I needed to look over my shoulder because someone would be gathering information on lies. I'm just saying, I'm not lying. If you read, I said it's nothing terrible and wouldn't cause anyone any problems. Not a big enough issue for anyone to be trying to find out who I am and gathering intelligence on. That's kind of funny to even think about.
Bully? Me?  Nah. I was the one who would invite the new kid to sit at lunch with us when they were standing there their first day with their tray in hand, wondering where to sit. Didn't like mean people and I still don't. I had friends in every group, black, white, nerds and popular kids, the 'smoking lounge' crew and the Honor Roll students, the jocks and the computer whiz. In fact, the job I have now I specifically got because a former classmate is my boss and she said I was one of the few people waaaaay back when who were kind to her. Just an average person who liked just about everyone I met. Still do. And.....not blonde and don't ever want to be! And I definitely was not a slut, lol. Far from it.

thanks for getting back on topic. Yes it was the contractor doing street sweeping. where's tired of complainers. people will complain if you do and complain if you don't. be glad that someone is cleaing up the mess.

Wally fruitcake, no, you are wrong. As I recall the events NOTHING was found on the mayors computer. His daughter was the one who had it on her computer. I think that YOU had better check your facts. You are wrong. Also, you better be careful in your accusations. You, too, could get sued.
Just my opinion. You are not going to change mine or most others. As Goatee also said - most people do not read or care what we write on here. So, I assume that the majority are silent as usual.

Fruitcakes, as Goatee Devotee said in one of his replies below. No, most decent people did not share the (Fruitcakes) view or opinion. I think Goatee actually replied to you all as "crazies." I think most of us do not share the fruity or crazy views. I also think that a lot of us who may have voted the ex-mayor out of office, now realize the error of our ways. Taxes up and an out of control town hall. Councilmen and mayor who now make us all look like the true hicks that the fruitcakes and crazies of this town are. Sad times in Mudville.

| TAATS, you are so off base on this one. Hizzoners Closet was a smash hit and readers couldn't wait for the next issue to get the latest chuckle. It was not tacky unless of course you are referring to the person depicted. I still have most of the cartoons as do many others I've talked to. I've read some of your postings and until now didn't have an opinion about you one way or another. You just went down the toilet with all the Does. And it was proven that the filthy blogs came from the ex-mayor's home computers after an expert was hired and verified it through emails Markie sent to the town hall from those very same computers. Unless of course you think the Cahills broke into Hizzoners home and used his computers to post that trash. Oh, no, they couldn't have because they would have been caught on the security cameras or the police hiding in Markie's garage.

Well that's good news Painter, but from the contents of your postings it appears you've sniffed a few too many paint fumes in your day.
Anyway, this town can do without hillbilly s*** stirrers or sociopaths with video cameras and illegal listening devices. Smyrna needs to move onward and upward, not backslide. I think most people are intelligent enough to realize that. Now that we are getting more and more transplants from bigger gene pools like New York, PA and Jersey, things can only get better. Besides, we still have our big red signs from the last election if needed.

Big deal that you named Jacobs, a lot of people had the opinion, including me, that he was big headed also (ashamed the town swapped Jacobs for a Smugg but at least in my opinion Smugg in a bit smarter than Jacobs). Look at the land deals Jacob did in town with his buddy English and alot of those houses on South Street. There were properties that were also being sold for tax liens or other condemnation notices and who do you think scooped them up before they were even publicized? You had to be buddy buddy to get anything done in town.
As always, just my opinion.
There were a lot of bad calls made in this Town, but things are going to get better. However, we have to live with all the damage that has been done. Perhaps one day we will be able to forget about it all, but it will take a long time. The longer that the Faux King X-Mayor, and Doe's stay away the better it will be. If he comes back, I think that we will bring back Hizzoner's Closet, that should take care of a lot of things.

The slander nastiness came from the Mayor's computer (This was proven) and he blamed it on a family member. Had he thought of it, he'd have said somehow the Mayor's computer slandered three of his neighbors. Amazing.

I knew one of the...parties...from back in the '80s and she harassed people even back then, when things didn't go her way. This was nothing new, she just had more power behind her recently.

| I already named the other neighbor that was harrassed before the Cahills. You did not read very good. Also, I have no blinders on. You apparently have not lived along side of them, but if you cross them the wrong way, watch out for your back. I could name a lot of names on here that he has harrassed, but I won't do that. His buddy in the legislature is retiring this year so he now cannot use him for retailation against people who work for the state. I could name a few of them also, but then again, I will not. That is for me to know and you to find out. One thing is for sure, there are a lot of people who know how he is and it is not good. None of what I have said is rumors, lies and innuendos. These are facts and of course, my opinion.

Hot, who has the ex-mayor constantly harrassed with the exception of your assertion that it was the Cahill's. Name the neighbor other than the Cahills that they have had a problem. I remember the article about the Mayor's walk out and that was because Cahill and Cher were trying to make appointments which was not their responsibility. As noted on this blog, Cher and others tried and did do the same thing to Stombaugh. It has been agreed that Cher was wrong. So was Cahill and Cher. The ex-mayor stood his ground and won. He was voted out of office, this is true. Look where it got us. Higher taxes, a town manager who knows no bounds, and a council that is truly making our town look like back woods hicks. Take your blinders off. You base almost everything you say on rumors, lies, and innuendos. Goatee is correct.
Edited to say: Hot, you accuse everyone of being the Does are the Schaeffers. I am neither but I liked the mayor and have never had anything against his family. I also know a couple of his neighbors and those neighbors have never said a bad thing about the Schaeffers.

Smyrnite, I think you are wrong about Cahill vs. Schaeffer. From what I gathered regarding that lawsuit, there was a settlement of the lawsuit which they were not allowed to discuss, but that the Schaeffers had never admitted to any wrongdoing. It was also my understanding that the Cahills have never proven that the Schaeffer's were responsible for those postings. As always, my opinion. I guess we all need to say this after the Cahill debacle.

You are right -- things have changed -- dramatically. The problem is that capable people have better things to do than to become involved in something like town council.

A) Apparently you never read the newspapers about the lawsuit your former mayor settled. It sure wasn't the Cahills starting or participating in any of that trash.
B) You "heard the Cahills started most of this"? From whom?
B) The only persons who have been slandered were the Cahills. Slander; a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report. Try reading Cahill V. Schaeffer. The slanderer(s) were the former mayor and his family. The persons slandered were the Cahills. I'm not sure how you mis-perceived that, perhaps you best check your sources. They have a few facts wrong.

When the street or roadway is ground up or scarified with "Recycler" bits of asphalt still remain on the surface. The roadway has to be swept of all those asphalt bits and other bits of dirt and contaminents before the new asphalt is applied or it will not adhere correctly. Over time water will get between the new and old surfaces causing expansion between the layers. Freezing in the winter time will only compound this problem and will cause the roadway to break apart prematurely.
