I am talking about the shuttles like DART has in Dover. Not FREE. Same rates as they have. I think it is needed in our town.

Someone wrote: ndic, you drive for Dart, and you get all those tickets, good thing Dart doesn't go in Clayton
It's a good thing I'm found not GUILTY for all those tickets or should I say harassments. I would be job less 2 points and you are done !!
No If And Or Butts
And last thing I wish they would put a trolley through Clayton do you know how much money the citizens would save from tickets and court costs and how much the Clayton P.D would lose maybe 1/2 the force would be jobs less, But that would be a shame for the 4 good Officers !! But good for the 2 bad Cops !!
Did you see that Officers get respect !!!!

DelDot would NOT fund this project. They did NOT want to come off of Route 13. There are pickup locations that were arranged by the last mayor on 13. Out of curiosity - how many people would actually use an in-town route? For the town to probably pay for this would be cost prohibitive.
OnlyMe. I know you think that Schaeffer turned this down but this is not true. Tell me exactly what he turned down so that I can understand what you are talking about. PowerH was involved with this along with others. How were you involved?

Sorry Only Me. This is not true. I happened to be interested in this when the last mayor was in. Mayor Sschaeffer got a stop for us in front of Kentucky Fried Chicken and in front of the Wayside.
you got a "stop", yes.........however what about some IN TOWN transit buses??? especially with all the growth.

| "Mayor alone cannot turn anything down " You are joking, right? We are talking about MARK SCHAEFFER who did just about everything on his own and not at all by the books. Trust me. HE TURNED IT DOWN.

Only Me - Again, not true. I know that DelDot did not want to fund this as they did not want to go off of Rt 13. We were involved in this as this was a Power House issue. Besides we know that the Mayor alone cannot turn anything down because it takes a majority of council. Council never voted on this because DelDot refused to fund this proposal.

I have an idea. Let's sell the canoes, and put in a trolley line going up Main Street, and another going from Commerce all the way into Clayton!

| I'm surprised passenger fares only bring in 18% of what it takes to run DART, according to an earlier post. Didn't realize we subsidized that much.

FACTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some facts;
"In 1969 the privately owned transit system, operated by the Delaware Coach Company, became public by an act of the State Legislature."
http://www.dartfirststate.com/home/about/index.shtml
How Transit is Funded
Q. Why doesn't DE Transit-DART First State buy more vehicles and add more parking and security at the Park & Ride lots?
A. DE Transit's goals are to provide a high quality of transit services and safe locations for all of our riders to park, and board and disembark. We are working each year towards these goals improving our service, facilities, and bus stops, but the revenue we receive limits us. Our revenue is made up of passenger fares (18%), Federal grants (3%), Other-Bus Advertising (2%), and State Funds (77%). When any of these resources change, we must work to implement the best transportation system we can given our funding.

Any time, G2. Small minded people are always very quick to think the worst of others and pick a fight. As we both know.

also imagine all the vehicles that WON'T be on the roads in this town. Thanks for the "backup" OnlyMe.

WOW.....y'all really CAN be a hostile bunch!! this is a legitimate concern of mine...has been for years. Many cannot afford to drive, don't drive, can't drive, etc. etc. and many cannot WALK as far as it is to business / grocery destinations. I thought there might actually be a concerned soul on this board that had some suggestions as to who(m) to ask to get something going in Smyrna. Dover has the transfer station for the 301 bus. why not Smyrna?? perhaps some of you with too much time and money can offer a taxi ?? WOW WOW WOW!

| Just a minute two cents - I ride the bus sometimes and I pay what they ask me to pay, so what's the problem ? If it costs them more they ask me to pay more, don't they? Thank you.

| Only me -- you are not that oblivious! Riding a DART bus is not the government hauling you? Oh yes, you pay a fare which is a token portion of the cost of transporting you. Delaware and/or federal taxpayers are providing the real funds to keep those buses running.
