Facts are a funny thing Hartlyboy. People tend to bend and twist them until they are unrecognizable. Fact is some people take credit for things that others worked hard to do. But no one on this blog cares about that.

Ah shucks, the mayor took all the fun out of it by throwing out some facts. Now what can we get on next? Gene's boats and the Council vacancy have pretty much been chewed over. There must be something else you townies can get started to entertain the rest of us. Counting fireflies out here over the corn fields isn't near as much fun as keeping up with the Smyrna Soap Opera.

the Street Improvement monies were returned to the town prior to the 2007 election and were held by DelDot until engineering for the project was completed. Our current mayor was not involved in the negotiations.

FACTS:  I was called to a meeting with Mr. Hugg one month after my election to be notified the money that had been held as a penalty was being released to us.  It was not released prior to June 2007.

When you do a project as large as this, there are many factors that come into play such as WEATHER.  As we all know we have had a lot of rain this spring that slowed down the project.

What has taken place:

1. The old terracotta pipes have been replaced - sewer and water lines.  Electric lines were placed underground and we are working with Verizon and Comcast making it possible for them to place their service underground.  Conduit has been placed underground to handle Verizon's and Comcast's needs not only now but for the future.

At the present time curbs are being installed. Next lights and tree wells will be installed, followed by sidewalks, and street. The final step will be landscape, and signage.

The black top that has been installed is temporary.

There will be articles in the Sun Times and Delaware State News I believe next week.

Thought you all might want to read this item that appeared in the SunTimes in March.

It can be very difficult to respect the office of mayor when its current inhabitant does little to nothing to garner the respect of the public.

What would you have her do?

Resign.

See my previous post to What a Crock......yet another of your NUMEROUS aliases - ex-kin of hizdishonor.  DITTO, DITTO, DITTO.

I believe that I have written this before.....you have a one play playbook........and you keep playing.....it gets old.

The Farris' signed off to have the tree removed.  Our Mayor had nothing to do with the tree being removed.  Some of you want to place blame on her for everything but you do not want her to have credit for anything that goes well.  Town Hall has always told me August was the purposed finish date.  Tramp, why don't you go to the correct people if you have questions?

I am answering as "Cottoncandy" since I am not "Madam Mayor".  Believe me, I would not be as nice as she is to those who malign her.  When I have attended Council meetings, the Mayor invites people to come to the mike.  I have never heard her announce a residence restriction, but you must give your name and address because the meeting is taped.

I have to agree about that.... Main Street is an absolute mess... now it appears that asphalt has been put down, but it's almost just as rocky/bumpy as the dirt/rocky road....  Awful...

Would you have preferred that the Town of Smyrna decline the State/Federal grant so that it could go to another municipality when our downtown infrastructure was sorely in need of repair?

yes, madam mayor

Well this is just a part of the mayor's plan to shine the light on good governance!   Surely you must be able to understand the many benefits to be realized from this project; trees and flower boxes along the street, benches for homeless to sleep on, etc.
