| Everbody has to agree. When do you think was the last time a cop testified in a court and raised the left hand to take the oath?

Thanks, Fuzzy. IMO, Oh my! wouldn't know a "man of integrity" if they stood face to face. The only "screwing around and game playing on council" was being done by Evans, White, and Thornton.

We wanted Tony on Council because we believe him to be a man of integrity who will vote for what he thinks is right for the people of Smyrna. Obviously, he is fulfilling his duties; and he needs to repay no one.
Way to go, Tony! Good luck in your new position.

What do you think?
From the Delaware State News:
DeFeo finally receives Smyrna council seat
Deadlock breaks in fifth meeting
By Al Kemp
Delaware State News
SMYRNA — No vacancy.
Tony DeFeo was sworn in as the newest member of Smyrna Town Council on Monday night, taking a seat between Mayor Pat Stombaugh and Council Secretary Valerie M. White.
It was the fifth time Mr. DeFeo has stood before council willing to serve. He was previously nominated by Mayor Stombaugh, as well as council members William Raynor and Robert Riddagh.
Council has been deadlocked over the nomination the past four meetings, tying at 3-3 with opposing votes coming from Lawrence O. Thornton Jr., Memphis Evans and Ms. White.
The deadlock showed no signs of budging during the June 15 meeting, despite public protests in front of Town Hall and in the council chambers.
When the deadlock dissolved Monday night in a vote of 5-1, the audience in council chambers burst into applause.
Mayor Stombaugh called the vote a "historic" moment for Smyrna.
Council members were urged to fill the vacancy during public comment.
"I implore the council to put aside your personal differences and do the work you were elected to do," said Susan Wolfe of Main Street.
Heather Burleigh, a neighbor of Mr, DeFeo’s in Sunnyside Farms, urged Mr. Thornton, Mr. Evans and Miss White to reconsider their previous votes.
"Tony DeFeo has proven his dedication to our town," she said.
There are nine months remaining before Mr. DeFeo’s seat comes up for re-election, on April 26. He ran for the seat in the April elections, but lost to Mr. Riddagh by a vote of 405 to 275.
Once Mr, DeFeo was sworn in and seated, Mayor Stombaugh nominated Mr. Raynor for the position of vice mayor. The motion passed 4-3.

Perhaps he will vote what he believes is right and not have to "pay someone back". Wouldn't that be a breath of fresh air.

Congratulations Tony! Hopefully council will find a way to work together for the town's benefit. Smyrna is a good place to live and raise your family.....let's all put aside our differences and help to make it more special.

| Mr. De Feo is not a council person yet. He has not properly taken the oath. The picture in the Sun-Times shows him with is left hand raised, his right on the Bible. Exactly backwards! Makes me wonder where all these people manage to hide that they do not know fundamentals like one's left hand on the Bible, the right hand raised.

The grape vine is buzzin' - it is Councilman DeFeo with only Ms. White's negative vote. Thanks Councilmen Evans and Thornton. Good luck, Tony.

The mayor could appoint Jesus to that seat, the same three disciples would still vote no. And apparently it's none of our business why! I'm starting to think it's time to clean house completely, and start from scratch with a new "I know what's best for YOU" council.
Hey, Town Council, here's a sign for you: "INTEGRITY - GET SOME!"

For Smyrna's sake, I hope that we can read between the lines and realize what is really going on here. Have no fear Ruthless, even though we can't have Mark back to fill that seat as you wanted, rumor has it that Palin resigned as gov of Alaska just to come to Smyrna and fill that empty seat.

Yes, Mr. 2c, please stay home, for you are one of the most negative people who post in this forum; and let us, those who care about Smyrna and know how much Tony cares about our Town and its citizens, speak up for him.

One more time......please go to Town Hall Monday night (July 6) to show your support for Tony DeFeo. Be there by 7:00 with voices and signs!
No negative posters please - the topic has already been exhausted. This is simply an announcement for anyone interested in supporting Tony to show up.
