The mayor has gone green , the wild flower/ weed field was knock down from 4 to 5 feet plants tonight to a mere 3 feet because the rain pelted it.

I don't think the mayor is caring about the field , it has that back to nature look, full of colour.

Well I notice that otherpeople in Cheswold have made decisions to allow native grasses and wildflowers be their yards, too.  One that comes to mind is across from the post office.  I always thought that a mowed yard was preferred by most civilized people.

I was only trying to make sure our employees got paid and to pay off the loans that we had to secure for past action of the last 10 years.

As far as the wild flower / weed field near the start of our beautful town , we are going green in stead of the spin on the dime mower being used , we are going to rent a goat  !

Feeding the the hungry is a good thing , this way we are saving the OZONE

Cheswold has been violating this ever since Tinari became Mayor - at least as far as I know. It would destroy Cheswold if someone went to the Delaware Attorney General's office and told them that is what Cheswold is doing! The town would have to put every cent they spent back into the impact fee fund - where are they going to get the mo ney to do this??????????????

Popeye I believe that it; is now time for you to give the attorney general that information and let them hold Tinari up by his feet and shake every dime out of his hands and pockets.  You are right that the town is wrong in using impact feen funds for routine operating exoenses.  The town has borrowing power, even though it ay have no remaining collateral to support a loan.

Now I am wondering if the town council inappropriately transferred impact fee funds to the general fund (without posting that intention in the agenda) has to do with the money drying up?  It is not proper for the council to convert money from impact fees to general use to pay bills not related to the purpose for which that money was collected.   Mr. Ryan would never have permitted that.

No one else --- you are exactly correct.    If one lives in cheswold, they receive a property tax bill of 60 cents per $100 of assessed valuation -- compared to the present county rate of 25 cents.    The town provides absolutely no services except to collect your payment of the tax bill in order to pay clerks for the year until time to send out the next tax bills.   The residents would be far better off if the town ceased to exist as a town.

Maybe I was not too far from the truth on this subject.  The mayor should lay off all the town clerks and the police and police chief.  The money to pay those expenses is drying up and the town property owners can't afford to pay the bills through taxes to the town.  Somebody else has said several times the town should return its charter to the state and just become another unincorporated part of Kent County.  That makes sense.
Its been said many times before.  Dissolve the town and go with county services.  Much less expensive, after all, what does one get in return for the extra taxes?  The only thing I can think of is talking points.

State workers getting pay cuts and furlough days , well I guess it's going to be toast for your town clerks too

Aren't their days off and pays based on what the state gives it's employees ?

I wonder if any ones toes or eyes will be crossed when the winners take the oath of Office for Cheswold.

I do know all of them meet the residency requirement and none were tracked down and begged to break any Charter rules so they can rip off the towns cash flow , And their are some pretty intelligent  people who ran ( none as intelligent as ryan heh heh heh )

You may have two parks in town before you know it ! A New post office and a resource Center .

Contract may not be the same

tell me, what did Cheswold do with all that property transfer money the County sent to them???  They decided to spend it all thinking it would never end.  Another mistake on the part of the State.  Giving the transfer money back to the counties and municipalities.  they couldn't spend it fast enough and what do they have to show for it?

Helen --- I have to doubt the accuracy of that report.   Mr. Ryan, the ultimate business person, was either the town manager or a town councilman when these alleged errors were made.   Certainly nothing like thaty could have slipped past him, could it?

Hey just heard a rumor

The rumor is that Cheswold is planning on giving up as a town.

The new council that is entering will give it up because of the economy and the towns buget can not be met.

Soon there will be 8 people out of a job. But on the bright side no more taxes paid for nothing. And the county will build the park.

Helen, the town just wastes any money it has so it should not get any of this new Obama money.  The mayor of Camden seems to understand the hard truth.  If you do not have a source of money to pay employees, you lay them off.  It is as simple (and as difficult) as that.

Helen -- I believe the town of cheswold wiill not receive any of the bailout money.   My understanding is that it would have to be for "shovel-ready" infrastructure improvements, of which the town has none.   The remainder of the funds are targeted to entitlements and the town will not be eligible.   I wrote letters to the Delaware congressional delegation demanding that the town receive nothing, having squandered about a half-million dollars over the past 3 or 4 years on legal matters.
