ROFLMBO - Did anyone see this news worthy rag this week... Half a page ad on the front page. Where is the news? I can't find it for the legals... ROFLMBO, you should post this one in the new Jokes sections, it would fit there. LOL

if Hendry Glads Sunday News were honest most of that paper would be retractions.
This paper prints more truth;

I think Patty Brant does a pretty good job with the Caloosa Belle. But I understand she has been out of town because of a death in the family.

I don't think they have been printing any Spanish news in months so one of these must be an old post.

I don't mind paying for a good news paper. The caloosa belle, is not that paper. The latest issue has no less than 10 full page ad's in it. The actual "news" content can be condensed into less than 2 pages. Three if you count the reprinted "news" in Spanish. Personally, I don't.

Before they started charging 50 cents for the paper there were advertisements, yes. They didn't out number the actual pages of print though!

Perhaps they should change the name to the caloosa shopper? Not sure if the Lee County Shopper would mind or not. If you have so many paying full page advertisements. Why, are you charging for this "news" paper?

How about some feedback on this. Am I the only one that finds it sad that they have stuffed it with advertisements, and tried to charge you for reading them?

As if!

I agree,  it was pretty bad this week,  however,  you can get it for free...you do not have to pay for it.

do you have anything to add to this discussion? The topic is the caloosa belle and it's charging 50 cents per issue now. Just in case you missed it.

actually

well oh wait
you didnt ask a question did you?
you made a statement. This is not an attack its an observation.

for the record its the newszap chain that owns this forum. not the caloosa belle. They just happen to be the publisher now. The caloosa belle has been around a lot longer than these forums.

but do feel free to phrase your reply in the form of a question, just like jeopardy on tv!

Well if enough people dont speak up about 50 cents a copy for a bunch of full page ad's you will soon be hard pressed to find any of them free "newz"papers.
Personally I gave up on them for any kind of real news a long time ago. Fluff an filler, but certainly no news.

The Caloosa Belle is still free most places.  I think they must be experimenting with charging to see what happens. I picked up a free copy last week. The Hendry-Glades paper is free a lot of places too, but I don't even want that one for free -- the writing is so slanted and often so mean-spirited.

Caloosa Belle is the hometown paper and I do enjoy reading Patty's stories. She must have been at the paper at least 20 years, taking over when Martha passed on. Now there was a newspaper woman -- Big Red Puletti!

As far as I can tell, they are differnt companies.
We all know where the caloosa belle office is.
The Hendry Glades Sunday times lists an office on South Main Street in LaBelle. Not the same location. Now admittedly this does not mean that they are not owned by the same company.

The quality of the reporting would in my opinion show with no doubt that they are not the same.

Odd that last week paper missing a section, I thought I had just dropped it. Guess I am not as clumsy as I thought I was.

They had at least 2 articles worth reading. The one about the water issues and the one about the arrests made in the case of the poor abused horses. This family is known for trying to "keep the dream alive" when reality should long ago have set in. There are times when people need to realize that even though life is precious, sometimes life for these poor animals is terribly miserable and it needs to be ended quickly and mercifully.

I agree with you.....However I would like to know if the same people do both the Caloosa Belle and Clewiston News.  Don't waste your money on a copy of the Clewiston News this week as the front page articles "continued on page 12" are not continued period.  Surely the proofreaders caught this.   I am sure there were complaints made to the paper.  If so why didn't they remove the papers from the boxes and inside store locations instead of letting people keep spending their hard earned money on an incomplete paper.  Hopefully the Caloosa Belle will improve; there is no hope for the Clewiston News!!
