| Paraprofessionals were told that (a few years ago) it had become mandatory that all paras pass an exam or take college classes to get their AA degree within two years or they would be without a job. I had to take it as well as everyone else. Here it is years later and some of the paras that got to hold on to their jobs have never passed the test but the union stepped in and because they had been around for so long and they had seniority they kept their jobs while those of us who passed the test were layed off. The rules changed a few years ago but evidently it didn't matter because what the union wanted the union got. Does that explain things?

| I guess you must be in the union, since you seem to know everything that happened. It sounds like this is another cheap shot at the president of the union. Why don't you just grow up.

| If the union had not gotten envolved the paras. that have taken the para test and passed it, (a test that was required a few years ago) would still have their jobs. We would be working instead of the paras that have not passed the test. Those people who have not passed the required test would be the "layed off" and the paras. that did what was required of them would still have our jobs. I don't care how long you have worked somewhere if there is a new requirement to keep your job then the ones who meet that requirement should be working everyday and the ones who didn't achieve the new requirement would be looking elsewhere for employment. It should be everyone or no one. I think it's bull crap that this wasn't brought to the public's attention.

As for the "deal" you refer to- this happened well over a year ago-
info is available for the public. Surely you were aware of the facts of this deal at the time. Why the sour grapes now? I am not sure of your agenda although I have a pretty good idea. When a person talks of the infamous "they" in regards to others-
In my experience said individual is usually stating his or her opinion but lacks the courage and the character to stand up for their convictions.
In that same vein I am assuming you are at least partially responsible for the anonymous letter floating around the La Belle compound and other locations. ( I say this because some of the wording is identical.)
I haven't always agreed with Deb Steelman, we have agreed to disagree on a few matters. She has made a true/strong commitment to the union, the education of our children and has made great positive strides in improving her communication skills. I believe she has a heart for people and cares deeply for, our children (as do we all). She does not deserve anonymous attacks. (no one does)
Last year I made it my business to research the "deal" you referred to, I did not agree with it but made a choice at that time to let it go and get on with life. You obviously have extreme resentment for some reason- I pray that you can resolve this anger and get on with it and find peace.
As I stated previously, I am not understanding what it is you want- do you want Deb to resign? Do you want to be president? Nowhere in all of the rantings of your postings and your anonymous letter do I see what it is you want to happen as a result of your attack! Therefore I must conclude that you are trying to cause trouble just for the sake of causing trouble.
If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

All of the decisions being made re: lay offs and cuts are public knowledge. Before we accuse and attack- we need to go directly to the horses mouth . (Those who make the decisions) and check out the facts. It is really very simple. If you don't trust the answer you get, dig deeper. Knowledge is power.

HavAgr8Day, I don't think this is going the way you wanted it to. There are many union members that think Debbie is doing a great job. She has filled the shoes of the first president very well. The union needs someone strong who is willing to stand up for what is right. Because you have a personal problem with her, you feel you need to start cutting her down. Everyone knows who you are because you have talked to other union members about Debbie, using the same words that you wrote on here.
Debbie, the union stands behind you. You are doing a great job with no pay.

Thank you Pam. You made a very good point about not having the courage to put a name to all of this nonsense with these web postings. We really appreciate the support for my mother during this time.

If she is being paid by members dues, then we citizens have nothing to say about how much she’s paid or question why she still has a job after the layoffs.

Is the union president paid for with school district funds or by the dues that the union members pay? All union officials that I am aware of are paid by the members.

| It looks like HavAgr8Day just wants to start something with the union president. What about principals doing things that are on the border of illegal? Maybe Mr. Murphy needs to look into his principals. I for one think that the union president has a good job, and needs to hang on to it. Don't be so petty, HavAgr8Day.

How about why when the IT position was eliminated; The individual was just changed to a contract not eliminated.
Like so many other things in local government, only what they want you to see and hear is printed.
Our local paper(s) including this one to not do real investigative reporting.

| I am aware Rick Myrphy inherited a headache when he took over as the superintendent. What is puzzling is that with the layoff of teachers and support staff how does the support union president manage to hang on to her 12 month 8 hour a day job that was created for her? She only works 11 months because she has 4 weeks vacation! Custodians got cut from 12 to 11 months. They no longer get their vacation.
