I love old stories sweetie so you justkeepem coming as long as you want , I love listening to the (geezers) haha talk about the past, This is ment with the most sincereity,,,,,:)

I should probably scan some of them that do not have much of a degree of family privacy matters on them.

In one, he told of getting his uniform ready, shoes shined etc. in preperation for a parade for General Eisenhower.

At one time he was stationed over here in Palm Beach. We are from Michigan and I would never have dreamed I would live close to any of those places.

When my older brother was on furlough, about to ship overseas to England, he and the folks had it agreed previously that he would mention a certain one of my sisters or me to let them know whether he had flown over or went by air. He was pretty careful with what he said enough to not get a lot cut out of his letters. All the mail of the soldiers was censored. If they wrote anything that would be risky for the military operations, it would be cut out. He wrote on lined tablet paper and it looked like they laid the page on a table and cut it very neatly with a razor blade. I have heard of some letters from soldiers being so riddled with cutouts, there wasn't much left.
That is the more reason to scan and or take to a person that does document restoration, they are a part of history and you never know one day may be worth alot to someone!!!!

He can't post a pic because he is the Skunk Ape .

Better be careful. He may find some way of transferring that into an accusation of bestiality.

Zarawer, I'm glad you are never afraid to fly, it may help to keep the price of the tickets down.

I've been on plenty of flights pre-9/11 and post-9/11, (actually had to fly to Chicago, 3 weeks after the attacks).  I have never been nervous of fling regardless of who is on the plane.  "sheetheads" <-- you appear to be racist?  No need for racial slurs at all.

Thelma Harper's my kind of gal.

It was my brothers who were in World WarII. If you'll allow me a story or two: one of my family members asked my brother what was going through his mind as he was in the B17(tail gunner) during a mission. His reply was "one of us is going to get shot, you sons a b****es and it ain't going to be me. His wife is still living and has his medals, thank God the purple heart is not among them.

My other brother who enlisted toward the end of the war, I believe '45 to '48, while tending a radio hut(as radio cryptographer) in Port of Spain, Trinidad was approached by a high ranking officer, wanting to enter the building. My brother denied him entrance and the officer persisted until my brother stepped in front of the door, put his hand on his gun and said "No sir". The officer finally said "Ah, Scheiern, it's okay, I was just checking you out".

I have many of the letters from my brothers. The letters are 60 years old. The brother who was into radios wrote to my Dad about how he could rig up a radio station on the farm somehow. I wonder what he would think of our computers and how we communicate now.

Flsr,

We have had our differences and probably always will, But this is one thing I do agree with you with, history will always repeat itself in one fashioned or another, both of my grandfathers fought in wwII one in the navy and the other in the army, I being the eldest grandchild have all the metals etc for both of them thru these wars, I treasure them very much and have loaned items to my daughters teachers on occassion for discussion when learning about this war, I as you can still remember what I said and where I was at when 9/11 happened,

As thelma Harper would say, your not a foegey its old geeZ:D But with age comes education most may not agree with you but you have seen alot.....

flsr, I may not agree with you on everything but I do respect you.

You have seen, to my understanding, the two largest and best orchestrated attacks on America to date. Pearl Harbour and 9/11.

That being said I understand where you are coming from.

Before 9/11 the youth today got too used to America being the world power, the country seemed invincible and it took something as tragic as the World Trade Center Tragedy to snap us back into reality.

We must concider the cycle that we face.

With the end of World War I America was back on top again. We had money, and were telling Germany what to do. Hollywood flourished and the common folk were rejoicing in the streets about the end of the war.

Then the stock market crashed. And with it the morale of the citizens.

Fast forward to December 7th, 1941. America was attacked at Battleship Row in Pearl Harbour. America entered WWII.

1945, the war was over! America thrived once again!

The 50's brought the nuclear family and cars with tail fins so sharp you could cut paper with them. Everything was bigger and better than before.

Then the President was killed. Snapping America back into reality...the fact that either one man or a group of people could kill the most powerful man in the world confused Americans.

The 60's brought revolution and the 70's brought a continued war.

The 80's was the time of cold war and the 90's brought the middle east.

Then 9/11 happened.

Again, causing American's to rethink their places in the world. We had been attacked, out of the blue, on our own soil, in the self-proclaimed capital of the world.

Now, here we sit, in war, America is divided and change is being preached.

We are afraid, and I don't deny it.

However, with fear, comes control. If you have enough people scared you can do anything.

My prediction? Look at history.

We will come through, get our lives back and the cycle will repeat itself.

To know the future simply look into the past.

-PVT      After I posted the article about the Mosques, which came up with the feature of the government backed calendars and your remark about how 2+2 =7:

I am used to the ridicule of everything I post, so I didn't go back to view my post again, but when I did, I saw that the main part I wanted to post wasn't included. It was about a preaching that was taking place, in a mosque, mostly concerning those in England, to build the mosques, inhabit them for, I believe it said a couple of years, to observe the way the locals live and operate in order to better inform them of a takeover of the country. It mentioned that women are born deficient (which many men probably agree with:)) and that little girls should be hurt for---------here, I can't remember again, what was the offense of the little girls.

PVT and Zarawar, I hope you are on the plane with me, if the sheetheads decide to take over. I have seen a pic of PVT and he looks like a nice strong boy. Zarawar, how about a pic of you too?

I realize my statements are not very credible amongst the young folks and also among the parents of many of the young folks.

I can remember exactly the day the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor. I can remember my Dad saying to Mother, "My God, Mother, the Japs have bombed Pearl Harbor", then calling the friends who had just recently left from having Sunday dinner with us, to report what he had heard.

I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the day that Kennedy was shot, I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the day the World Trade Center was attacked. Now I know I qualify for being an old fogey, but not for narrowmindedness or bigotry. I understand the threat and you do not. If not for me, I certainly hope you have reverence enough for the men who fought in all the wars to protect the places you set your sorry a$$e$ every day.
