Our prime rib dinner at the Landing Strip tasted like it was warmed over from last week.

Ribeye, Delmonico & Prime Rib, all the same cuts, different names.

OK Patrick in which I know this is you:D The difference is preparation only, yes you are correct they are the same cut of meat, but when you cook them in a different way it changes their name to become something else, the roast in question is called a rib roast when cooked as a roast and slice into 1inch or so cuts and aujus is added its called prime rib, exact cut of meat thrown on the BBQ is called a rib eye, as for your Delmonico, it comes from the same portion of meat but it is a different cut, usually smaller then a rib eye for the most part...now I hope this has solved the mot guses issues with meat

Question
What is the difference between Rib Eye, Del Monaco, and Prime Rib? I have been told that they are the exact same cut of beef, only their preparation is different. Is this correct?

Answer
You are correct on the preparation.  Essentially they are the same cut of meat.  Prime Rib, Rib eye and Delmonico all come from the same cut of meat - the rib section.  Prime Rib is generally referred to as a roast, not a steak and you get a slice from the cooked rib roast.  Delmonico's name came more from the restaurant that it was prepared at but it is a rib eye.  Sometimes, a rib eye may come from a different end of the rib section than the delmonico, but it depends on the butcher and the store.  Check out wikipedia for more information.

It may be from the same place, not the same cut, one is a steak and one is a roast.

It is a great meal, but it's a rib eye not prime rib. A 16 oz rib eye, baked potato and salad for $12 is a GOOD deal.

How does it do against Outback, I have not found prime rib that beats theres yet, have tried all in chobee and well lets just say not impressed, stopped ordering it till can find someone who knows how to cook it, let me know

I would rate the Landing Strip Cafe's prime rib as equal to Outback's.

I found a reason to travel to West Palm on Saturday morning and since I was "out and about" I decided to eat out.  Where was the question, the choices here are many.

I hadn't had the opportunity to try the Landing Strip yet, so I made the "effort" to go there. :D  I am certainly glad I did.

The the staff was friendly and prompt, the room clean, cheery and bright and the food was excellent.  The scene outside was interesting also with various aircraft parked for us to see.

If I had any complaint, it was that the room was "noisy" (the acoustics there allow the chatter to "bounce").  However that small problem would not deter me from returning.

So to those of you who have not tried this restaurant, do so.  It won't disappoint! :D
