My mother and I have sveral antiques and collectibles. The roadshow was a total waste of time. They were paying little monies so that they could turn around and sell their "fortunes" to collectors who are paying big monies. That way the road show comes out ahead and you lose.
The roadshow was a total waste of time.To me it seemed like they thought we were all stupid and was to fall for the pittence they offered people. They just wanted to buy things that they could make a lot of money on and in my opinion they didn't know crap about appraising anything the ads were very misleading.
Did any of you bring your goodies down to the collecters roadshow? Mom and I went, I can safely say we were in the group of...Not to thrilled with this. Better luck to all who go.
They seem to be looking for certain items and are not paying very well for those.
Indian head and wheat pennies (which are far from new) were bringing less then 5 cents each.
OLD Silver dollars went for around $6 to $8
Gold and silver items went by weight. (example 4 gold bands and a mothers ring with one stone weighed out worth just over $40) soft gold, gold plate and silver plate jewlery and items were not in demand.
Most people left with the items they carried in. (and some had MANY items)
We were hoping for an apraisal of an item and the fellow started typing on his laptop...I inquired what search engine they were using...he answered...EBAY.
