Remember that I e-mailed them with all the information including the ID number and the mile post number when this post was first started? I see that as soon as they received my second e-mail with appropriate info that they got on the problem in fast timing I might add. It has only been a couple of weeks since the last e-mail was sent to them. Not to mention, that on Monday, my mother and sister were in touch with CSX by phone and they were assured that the problem would be getting corrected ASAP. I was by those tracks yesterday after 1P.M. and there had not been any work started yet. So, I guess with the help of all of us and the wonderful person who provided the info needed to get this started, we all deserve the KUDOS.
GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like someone at DOT is reading the forum. I crossed the tracks and they are putting some more asphalt on the crossing. Probably just move the bumps around, not fill them in.

Have you driven across 9th street lately? The middle of the 3 sets of tracks is REALLY bad! Many of us living North of the tracks on 98 use that street to get over to IRCC, Yearling, OHS, Raulerson Hospital, and the doctors offices.
So when you talk to the powers in charge about repairs please include the rail siding tracks.

Before we can have anything done about those tracks, we need to get the same numbers from them that I posted in my previous post. The numbers I need from those tracks are : The I.D. and Mile post numbers. You will find them on a small white sign located at every CSX crossing. BTW, have not yet received a reply back from CSX on the tracks located at 441 N. Am waiting patiently. Last edited on Tue Oct 7th, 2008 01:07 pm by 1GR8L8Y

What happens when the school bus loses it's front alignment and goesa down the road at 50 mph after leaving those tracks and your kid is on board? The driver loses control!!!! I will bet that the bus barn is having a time trying to keep their buses in safe order for our children and those tracks are of no help.
The buses come to a complete stop and proceed over the track at a barely rolling speed. The track really don't present much of a hazard to them but I do agree they need some work. It is terrible to try and cross them.
Good luck on getting something done.

I do own a pick up and might I add it has 1000.00 worth of tires on it. That has nothing to do with issue at hand. It makes no difference whether you have a P.U., a 4x4, a semi trailer pulling a load, or a little car. The point is these tracks are a hazard to our safety and to our vehicles' safety. I now have the numbers and on monday when the CSX has re-opened, I will be sending them the info. so that these tracks can be repaired in the proper manner.
Just because you come to a complete stop before you cross those tracks, does not mean that the damage to your tires are still not there. I will continue my efforts with CSX to get them repaired in an accurate and timely manner.

WE ALL KNOW TO USE OUR BRAKES.
if it makes you feel better by trying to be smart though we understand. maybe since you dont see anything wrong with the tracks you could repair our vehicles. dummy.

I received an e-mail from CSX today asking for more information. They wanted to provide us with an accurate and timely response. They need the DOT crossing ID and the milepost number. (There is a small, white sign located at every CSX crossing. The DOT crossing ID is a six-digit number with one letter in bold text located at the bottom left of the CSX crossing sign. The milepost number is located opposite of the DOT number.) Telephone # 1-877-835-5279
They also have given us a ref.# 40453
I am housebound most of the time and it is difficult for me get out unless I am going to the doctor or to my mother's house. Is there anyone who is willing to do the rest of the footwork for the citizens of this county? At this time, I have done all I can.
Thanks

count me in! (lol, I just noticed I am signed in under my daughters account, oh well, it's me Mitch)
You have to come to a complete stop to go over them.....it's that simple........I totally screwed up my car on Tuesday morning rushing my daughter to the ER and flew over those tracks........&^%$ my front end up. But this was my fault.......but you SHOULD be able to cross those tracks going at a normal 30 miles ph.

| Here I am again imploring all of you to contact CSX.com or to telephone them at the number I gave in my previous post. It does no one any justice if you just sit behind your screen and type away on your key board to complain about the problem. The problem will not get repaired until there are enough of us that complain to the CSX railroad. I was in touch with the county road dept. and with the state DOT. They are not the problem. The problem lies within the CSX and it is your duty as a responsible citizen to file the complaint. Jump on the bandwagon and file your comlaint or just sit back and see how fast it gets done.

| Just yesterday a large truck went over the tracks and dropped half his truck in the middle of the road (don't know the parts, but some were on the ground) and a tow truck was there to get him. It is unbelievable that they consider it fixed, as it's worse now than ever!

It was state priconers that dug up the road and put the shabby asphalt job down.
So they are saying that CSX gets free labor from prisoners?

I just got off the phone with the State Road Dept. and this is the information that "Robin" gave me:
TellCSX.com The more complaints that are made the faster they will repair the RR She also stated that the reason the RR has not been repaired is due the storms. I explained to her that was not good enough. The storm has been long gone and I have already received my FEMA help and had my roof repaired.
Was also told that if this is not done in a timely manner, that we could file a class action suit.
There is also a telephone number: 800-232-0144
Good luck to all.
I have filed my complaint with csx.com

| There also needs to be a complaint made to the Railroad company and to the DOT. For all of the damages that have been done, once a complaint has been made and the repairs are not completed in a timely manner, I believe that we as citizens have the right to file suit against these two entities due to their neglegence. I wonder if they realize what a new set of tires and front end alignment cost for those of us who own nice P.U. trucks. Not to mention it isn't cheap either for the little cars because the usually have front wheel drive and it damages the CV joints and the axel bearings. People, stand up!!!! I am on the phone as I write this and will be getting back to you about any answers I receive.

Since everyone is agreeing let me suggest thtat you call your commissioners and complain to them.
Complaining lets off steam but gets nothing done.
Fight for what you think is right.

My exact words are Holy Mary Mother of God.!!!!! Every time I drive over those tracks......I try to veer to the extreme left when I am heading south and the same when heading north....One would think the COUNTY would be all over CSX about the condition of those tracks........Maybe we all should file a complaint with DOT and CSX and see if they can do something about it BEFORE someone gets hurt............. In the meantime , just be careful out there and try not to tail gate folks there so they can slow down to cross the tracks.................. Diva

they had a road crew take out the pads that ran along side the rails on the northbound side and put asphalt down.
It is much worse than it used to be. You have to almost come to a stop before crossing there.
I have to cross it every day and my front end has started making noise lately when I cross there.

| I have heard that complaint from many. It wasn't too long ago that those tracks were redone and then it seems visually that they have taken something off of the far side by Glades Gas. I know a local business guy told me that especially in his big delivery truck, it is horrible for him to go over those tracks now.

HAS ANYONE ELSE JUST ABOUT GET YOUR FRONT END TORN UP WHEN CROSSING THE TRACKS BY THE TRAIN STATION?
SEEMS THE CROSSING COULD BE SOFTENED WITH MINIMAL WORK. YOU NEED A FRONT END ALIGNMENT CHECK EVERY TIME YOU CROSS, EVEN WHEN YOU TRAVEL BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT.
