At this time there are like five candidates. O'Reilly, a former DC who was here for one year and three other people. My money is one of them is Erwin,as he didn't get it last time, and another one is the guy who was suppose to come down but isn't know Jones.

It will be interesting to see how many candidates they get this late in the summer with football starting in August.

I guarantee one thing who ever gets it will for surely get along with weirsma and will not be able to do anything without her okay.

Your absolutely correct.   There are a couple of locals who deserve the job, but will NEVER get the opportunity because of politics.

Have they done something to make the political go against them?

I'd say thats part of the problem too many locals already, need somebody from the outside who isn't influenced by the local politics of the community. Locals normally keep a program stagnet, need new blood with fresh ideas to build for the future.

I hope that was rhetorical.:?

I hope the new football coach is someone who respects the rules and regulations of the game.

I hope the new football coach values principles and morals and values more than winning a game or two.

I hope the new football coach puts more stock in a quality education than in winning a game or two.

I hope the new football coach is honest and respectable.

Indian 2%? I think this might be higher than this. The whole seminole tribe

goes to Okee high even though they are in another county.
The drop out rate among the Indian population is high, and some of them do go to Moore Haven, so 2% is about right.

about as accurate a description that i can give

Well I think we know who is charecter is. Tell us Big,Tall and Ugly what in the world did Mr. O'Reilly ever do to you?? For you to talk this way about him

My guess is your one of the new volunteer coaches as you started your account after I ripped on your dad Rex Erwin, and you said you know how Mr. O'Reilly talks

If the guy knows Urban Meyer he has some connections which can't be a bad thing. Hopfully he does apply, and you come clean and tell us all why you speak so poorly of someon new to okeechobee??? Like I siad what did Mr. O'Reilly ever do to you.

im not one of the new volunteers and i have nothing against o'reilly, he seems like a good enough coach he just reminded me of sloth.

My guess is the Big,Tall and Ugly is one of the Erwins as he didn't posting until after I started ripping on Rex NO NECK Erwin. What the hell did O'Reilly ever do to you BTU

If you have a beef with these people then take it to them person-to-person rather than lashing out on a public forum where you can hide behind a username.  You call yourself a brahmanman", but no respectable "man" would act this way.

That "close" approximation seems pretty specific.

It's pretty close, yes, but I'm sure it isn't exact.

honestly as a teammate of joe's he needed a year off... i dont mean that in a bad way but it should have helped show him that he can be great and that he needs to keep his head on straight this year. brant, thor, and john should all be really good, this year year they are going to have some growing pains but every1 does. we just need to get all of these kids in the weight room, that is where games are won, i know its a cliche but it is the truth.

You are 100% correct I have been telling the boys that all along. get those PIPES big and strong and they will dominate their oponants. I know by talking to several of the boys that played last year for chobee that they were unsure of what was in store for them with getting a new coach but now that they have named a coach Ive seen a change in them (a good change) now it seems that they are looking at it as business as usual.. I think they will be just fine.

Never mind I know who you are talking about Marcus Martin AKA Little Joe Martin. I think that the offence will be good depending if TJ matures like I think. But I think that the defence will be exceptionally srtong next year. Up and coming sophmores that play with a great deal of intensity like Thor Harden tackle JasonFord tackle Colby Frank WR, Free Safty LB and DE and  probably one of the smartest line backers ive seen in a long while LIL John Kemp the last time I saw a line backer with that kind of ability to read a play was Mark Peirce back in the late 80s and he plays a real good full back. Then we cant forget those devistating returners like Brant Harden, Walt Fortner, Alonzo Refore, Erick McQueen, Kyle McGee ohhh and LIL Joe Martin who at tail back is probably one of the most hardest running, hole hitting RBs Ive seen (You didnt hear his name last year because he was getting his head on straght with his grades). And we can't forget that real big kid that all of the boys are talking about I assume he plays the line. So we lost a few great players and a few good players last year but with what we have coming in I think that we will be just fine. i know if I was a new coach coming in I would really like what i had to work with. I can't wait.....GO CHOBEE......

joe played on varsity his freshman year (i was a senior) as a linebacker and back up running back and he had some problems last year. but he has turned those around and is now eligible. the new kid is ian, i think, he played for sebring.

It's on the front page of the Okeechobee News. They announced the new coach is Jeremy Beckham from Ohio. It says there will be a story about him in the Friday paper.

yeah he was the offensive coordinator for a team that hated the #1 offensive in the state of Ohio in 2007. Next year we will have Erick McQueen, Walt Fortner, Joe Marcus, Alonzo, and Deforest so we will have some guys to throw 2. I also think TJ will make the next step in becoming a better QB.

Congratulations on our new coach. Now lets give him the time and support he needs to get things going and  not throw him under the bus if things don't start out the way we would like. The schedule is a murder's row type for the next 2 years with Bartow, Vero, Hardee, Dwyer, Lakes, and Sebring to name a few. :)
