I would not lump every resurant that buys from CBI or Sysco together. They supply many items used by some of the finest resurants. Paper supplies, condoments, and ingrediants that all resturants need. Brand name items that we use in our homes as well. But there are some resurants in town that try to get buy using their prepackaged items too, and call it home cooking. Like the Clock, and a couple of local nonchain resurants in town as well. Ding a Ling you guys do a great job, and are a true bennifit to our community. Love what your doing, and thank you for doing it so well.

What? Sysco, and CBI deliver to every resurant in this town. It is all in what the resturants buy from them that matters. Prepacakaged heat and eat, or unprepared.

I'd rather eat a TV dinner than at the Clock. Same thing.
I agree, everything there is Sysco frozen foods. I'd like to see a restaurant that isn't specific to a type/genre of food and uses fresh/local ingredients, is that to much to ask?

Kitchen goes non stop. Last night fried gator, salad, not for me, but the rest of family loves it.
this morning, fried potatoes, eggs, onion all mixed together. when it is all done, sprinkle shredded cheese on top. toast, on the side. Milk served in frozen glasses.
Yesterday morn-same thing. add pound of bacon. wonder why I am fat?

I do not believe in pushing religion on any one, and I do not believe in preaching to people about it either. But you know what, You just have to believe in something and have Faith. The way our country is going to hell in a handbasket lately I keep the faith and pray a lot. I do not believe they should be taking" In God We Trust off "off our money. I do not believe they should ban prayer, its every ones right just as it is to not pray or believe. Personally I believe its better to live and let live and for me that means Believing in God and thankful I have something to Believe in.

OMG !! did someone post all of these inspections on my post? maybe I cannot read this page correctly yet as I just joined in not long ago (bored and taxed enough) in Okeechobee. So what about these violations? is this listing about cowboys? I can hardly believe all of this. maybe it sounds worse than it is. I have ate there a number of times and loved the food, and the place always appeared clean even the restrooms. They always have such a crowd too. A place thats bad generally shows by the completely empty parking lot. Can anyone explain these violations that are posted? was this cowboys or the old RJGators? I really did not like that place. Their food was always bad when I went there once or twice.

| Los Coco's is ok, but every thing taste the same. I like the new Mexican place better. Pueblo Viejo It is more MexiCali than Tex-Mex. Not every thing is covered in red sauce. The Burrito Azteca is exelent. The service is much quicker, and friendlier in my opinion too. Los Coco's was good till Pueblo Viejo came to town.

We become so materially consumed, we tend to forget it is or good health, family and God that makes our life worthwhile.

| Oh yes, I sure do that! I leave my husband working on the houses and I go to town on my regular route checking out places! I really enjoy the friendly people and the great customer service (compared to here). Love to go to the rodeos, animal auctions too! And the sky at night, funny here you barely see stars in the sky at night because everything is so lit up, but there I sit on the porch at night and stare at the stars and listen to the bugs, funny how sometimes we take the little things for granted

While you are here, there are many local business who would more than welcome you to shop at their stores, and offer many fine items for purchase. Antiques, clothes, consignments, hardware, appliances, cabinets, pizza, gun shops, Bible stores, portraits, furniture. Prices are comparable to many of the big chains, who literally try to out do the locals, but small stores survive because of visitors and people who understand the service they receive from a small business.
So, give all of us a try, we love the business.

No sorry I don't know where that was, I pretty much only know the main road, Cowboys, Golden Coral, etc.. I still haven't seen where Five Guys is? I'll have to ride around a little more next weekend when I come up. Usually just go to Wal-Mart &
Golden Coral LOL! Funny I avoid going to WalMart here in Miami and wait until I go to Okeechobee to go to WalMart LOL. It's just the crowds here and pretty much no one speaks English. Even though I am a AMERICAN, my grandfathers heritage is American Indian and born and raised around Lake Okeechobee, I speak fluent spanish (because I live in Miami) I just don't like going to places, including government offices and no one speak English. Believe me, after being here I look forward to my weekend getaways to Okeechboee!

| I didn't mean to single out any one resturant, it was just mentioned in the thread. All resturant inspections can be found on the DBPR web page on MyFlorida.com. There are so many and they're so big you couldn't post them all, but some folks want proof of what you say, so there's the proof.

| There are plenty of places that run Co-op ads. Get an oil change here, and save 10% on a whopper your next visit to BK. I agree with a separation of church and state, but a private business can do what they want. WW Lumber has religious quotes on there sign every week do I not shop there because of it? No,, if they have what I need that's where I go. Cowboy's is a good place to eat (like I have said I liked Skip's ribs better But!!!) and Skipjack's is great. Even I "the evil Atheist" won't not eat there because of religious views.

Maybe I am just not getting it, but, if I owned a restaurant and would give discounts to folks who wore "purple" today, or brought in a coupon, or a church bulletin, then what difference does it make.?
If you don't wear purple- you pay full price, so on and so on. I do not understand all the fuss.

I wish that were true about the less customers more time to clean. cause back to the bowling alley. no one was going there, giving someone plenty of time to clean, and it was filthy. I myself saw it, first hand as a volunteer for a special group.

Anyway, those inspectors are TOUGH ! Bet if it had been an inspection ereport written this week with such detailed critique some people would be crying that they were anti-Christian vindictive following the month where both Cowboy's and Skipjack"s (still my of two of three favorites in town but only occasional visits due to price - same story with Golden Corral) had their "Christians are better than other Americans" special discount offer running for those arriving with church bulletin. "Critical. Observed handwash sink used for purposes other than handwashing.at wait prep"
well, hey, when you gotta go and both of their one stall privies are occupado, you gotta go.
. Haven't been to Top of Lake but don't worry about 24 hour sanitation... fewer customers usually means more time for and attention to cleaning. Out of boredom if nothing else.
Anyway, those inspectors are TOUGH ! Bet if it had been an inspection report written this week with such detailed critique some people would be crying that they were anti-Christian vindictive following the month where both Cowboy's and Skipjack"s (still my two of three favorites in town but only occasional visits due to price - same story with Golden Corral) had their "Christians are better than other Americans" special discount offer running for those arriving with church bulletin. | Anybody got any thing on Golden Corral? Last time I was there I stepped in some banana pudding. At least I think it was banana pudding.

You can also check the inspections on MyFlorida.com, might suprise you to see about 20 "critical" violations. That was on just this one inspection, probably not always the case.

Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below. The department cites violations of Florida's sanitation and safety laws, which are based on the standards of U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Food Code. In general, critical violations are those that, if not corrected, are more likely to contribute directly to food contamination, illness or environmental damage. Although we use the industry-standard term "critical", varying degrees of severity and potential risk to the public require inspectors to assess each situation in determining the appropriate action. In addition, while an establishment may have multiple violations, the inspectors' training and judgment formulate the overall result of the inspection to ensure the public health and safety. While most establishments correct all violations in a timely manner (often during the inspection), the division's procedures are designed to compel compliance with all violations through follow-up visits, administration action or closure when necessary.
