OMG!!!!  These F----- doctors are nuts!!!!  I sure wouldn't want a PS looking at my playpen.  He might want to change my sex!  LOL  I sure don't want to be a man after all these years.  LOL  She needs to be checked out and needs to find out what kind of cancer it is.  A plastic surgeon has no business being inside the playpen.  That is why they have OB/GYNs.  Please make sure that she finds out what type she has.  It is very important.  My sis had exactly what I asked you about.  If they had not caught it in time, she would have had to go to a PS to repair the damage.  I certainly would get a second and third opinion.  HPV and the cancer that goes along with it is nothing to mess around with.  My sis had a hysterectomy many years ago and still becoame ill with vulvarian cancer.  Everytime I go to the dr. they want to know why I am getting a pap smear and I have to tell them what they haven't already learned.  Please make sure she gets the help she needs.  Hugs and kisses and you and yours are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your sis.  My sis also had vulvarian cancer and also had BCBS.  Dr. Hussein was her primary OB/GYN and sent her to Jackson in Miami.  At the present time I am waiting for a call from my sis to get the name of Dr. who performed her surgery.  I can say that I know how you feel because I have been there and done that.  As soon as my sis calls me back with all the info I will definetly let you know all that I can.  Hugs and kisses.  Sis called and the name is Sylvester University of Miami hospital and clinic and the doc's name is Hervy E. Averette.  The number is 305-243-4943.  There is an 800 number for Sylvester Gynocological Oncology and it is 800-548-4000.  Or 305-585-5180.  The address is 1611 NW 12th Ave in Miami.  Last we heard he still takes BCBS.  Call and find out if she needs a referral or if she can make the appt.  and come down to see him.  Good luck and our prayers are with you.  If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks bunches....I just heard from my sister and her -----you're gonna love this-----PLASTIC SURGEON says that she doesn't need to go to a gyn for this...that he can remove it for her !!! OMG....is this guy an idiot or what.. I kinda read my sister the riot act an told her to so what he GYN told her to do... I know I sure wouldn't want a PS to be cutting into  my "playground"....LOL

I have forwarded to her this info you just posted , so hopefully she will follow this advice and do the right thing !!!!

:(   UPDATE.... further testing and biopsy shows that it is the dreaded C word...........Results came in on Friday and she was informed by the Doctor yesterday when she went in for her visit. She now has to go to an oncologist and they will do whatever needs to be done.. What really pisses her off , is that the oringinal dr she went to see for her first biopsy led her to believe that it wasn't any big deal and not to worry about ....The next dr she went to see in Stuart , cut more into the dermas and sent that out for testing and came back with a more accurate   diagnosis......Just add her to your prayer list and pray that all turns out well for her and THANKS BUNCHES to all my forum supporters........

Hugs and Peace

Hopes this helps..I have been reading this for YEARSSS, and years.. Only responded to one post on RC during the time of his death...Always kept up with you Diva, you always seem to bring a calmness to the room.  I swear that I am going to come and see you at 5 guys:D

Diva - I have been a patient with Dr Goodman - nor for cancer but for issue where he was consulted by my Dr - Gene Manko  - I saw him several times.   he is all of the above  - warm, friendly, and compassionate  -  I would see him again if I needed a specialist in this area of expertise.     We do have some very good doctors - your sister should be able to find a practitioner to treat her.

UPDATE....;)  First of all I can't believe i am even UP at this hour of the a.m. BUT the rain and thunder has awoken me really early today....

SECOND... I can't THANK all of you so much for your timely replies. It warms my heart to know that we still have caring folks here in chobee !!! :D  ;)

My sister has an appointment with a GYN in Stuart Wed for another biopsy. She will then really know what's going on.

I also found out the real reason why her Gyn in Winter Haven ,Fl wont be of assistance to her...Are ya ready for this ??? The Dr says that because my sister pointed this growth out during her exam that the insurance wouldn't pay for it.

The Dr would have to have discovered it during the exam  SAY WHAT ??? Isn't that the reason we go to drs ?? Cause we found something somewhere that doesnt belong there ?? Has the whole world GONE MAD !!!!!  :?  ;)

That Dr in WInter Haven is REAL LUCKY that Diva wasnt in the room with my sister..... She would not have any butt cheeks to take home that night !!!! :D

So , again THANK YOU for all your lovely and kind comments !!!

I will let you all know what happens tomorrow... I know she will be fine !!! As she says Her God will  not let her down... and I also told her that her God doesn't want her there screwing with the process !!  Ah !! Laughter ....the best medicine....

Hugs to All

I have been battling this kind of thing off and on for years.  The best Dr. I dealt with is Dr. Howard Goodman in WPB on Flagler Dr.  He was very good with me!  I wish your friend much luck, and tell her God will watch over her.:)

Diva, Moffitt has my vote as well.

They took very good care of my Mom.

Their cancer research department is awesome.

About BC/BS not covering cancer--is it true that with most insurance policies you have to have a special "rider" to cover cancer? I believe I have heard this, and the reason would probably be that treatments are so expensive.

I don't know if she is still practicing here but I went to Dr. Hussain when I had cervical cancer. Of course that was ten years ago. I didn't have insurance and she worked with me. For my first follow up visit I didn't show up because I just didn't have the money. She called and told me she would do it for free as long as I showed up. She was the one doctor who was more worried about my health than the money!! Like I said though, I don't know if she is still here.

Diva,

I don't know of anyone personally...........but can't she go on line (BC/BS) and look up doctors in the area of speciality that she wants?  Thats what I do, and then I research the heck out of a doctor I pick.
