Flyrep, I did ask her and she told me she had heard no such thing. She said she knew it was out in the blogosphere, but that was the only place she had heard bout it.
I take her at her word, because she has never lied to me before.
This is not to say what you have been told is untrue, I just haven't been told the same.

Yes, I'd like to hear what she said. I forget his name, but another Congressman
did not deny hearing about it. He didn't confirm it either, but he said that all names
would be confidential.

Real consevatives expected their GOP Congrescritters to vote no. Many
did on Monday only to flip flop yesterday. Jeff Flake is my congressman and he
voted no twice. Good for him.
I can say the same for Thelma Drake in my district in Virginia. A congresscritter everyone, including her current D opponent, claims votes in lockstep with the Bush Administration on all things and at all times.
I'm going to be chatting with Thelma tomorrow, I'll ask her about the alleged martial law thing.

I grew up about a mile from Barry Goldwater's home. So did Congressman
John Shadegg who represents his old neighborhood. He voted no on this
last Monday and bragged about it. Then he betrayed us and voted yes
on Friday. His father was a Goldwater Republican as
well and he touts himself as the same. Well, so does John McCain, believe it
or not. I am speaking about Arizona, but the same played out in other states.
Real consevatives expected their GOP Congrescritters to vote no. Many
did on Monday only to flip flop yesterday. Jeff Flake is my congressman and he
voted no twice. Good for him. He is still for open borders but he voted
not on this as well as billions of dollars to be spent after Katrina, and the
Homeland Security Act. Note that some Congressmen even heard threats of
martial law. Were these threats by those in power in the Executive Branch
or just speculation from several people in Congress?

Well, yeah.
I know MANY conservative types who are in their 50s and 60s who got real nervous when their retirement investments dropped, and did get scared....and that transfered to Congress.
Was the fear justified? Bad things were, and are going to happen to our economy over the next year. This is not an exact science, but there was a chance that REALLY bad things could have occured...and they are smart enough to know that people are fickle, and most who were demanding no votes would have forgotten their anger relatively quickly when they were affected.
