| The state could save some money by just not publishing this whole stupid list that gets all the righteous busy bodies all worked up when they don't really have any information to go on as to what the 'offense' was. Tell me about the paroled murderers living next door if you want to make it seem like you have a handle on crime, but enough with the scarlet letter stuff for one crime.

Had to bring this back
I just saw a tier 3 sex offender holding in a baby not even a year old , and I called 911 and they informed me that he is allowed to be around children. repeat offender at that .
But there are 19 year olds who have only one offence ( having sex with their 15 to 17 year old girl friends ( consensual ) and are not allowed any children !
Way to go Delaware
Maybe to save the 911 callers time the probation office should list the offenders restrictions!
Then the state could save more money by keeping a check on the high risk offenders

In broad day light , with an adult and the childs mother , who knew he was but who gets charged ?
Why wasn't he just kept in jail if he is a danger to children ? why wasn't the mother charged with a crime ?
Now if he were not on probation he would never have been arrested !
I'm not saying whatever this guy did to get on the list was right but......... what dummie would say you can have contact with girls under 18 but not boys to a sex offender when they place them on probation ?

2nd that .
I really don't know why the bother arresting them for not registering , when the state can't get the list right the first time, If you have time go from a to z and you will see people listed with out photo , people with the wrong height and weight. Some warning you they are sex offenders not knowing what they are charged for but they call them sex offenders.
It seems it's ok from the ones who attend the list to make mistake when placing their names on lines and address in some cases , but when they find they have made mistake on the who , whats , when and hows they take it out on the ones who try to do what the law requires of them after their first and only arrest.

Nothing against you personally, tspong, but a direct clickable link would be appreciated instead of having to go through the main state webpage, which leaves a great deal to be desired in terms of being user friendly for folks on dial-up.

What do you think?
From the Delaware State News:
State unveils new offender registry site
E-mail search key tool to obtaining more information
By Katie Kazimir
Delaware State News
DOVER — Worried the next-door neighbor may be a sexual offender and want to know for sure?
Thanks to the new state police and Delaware Department of Justice sex offender registry, the answer to that question just got easier.
The Delaware Department of Justice and the state police launched the new state sex offender Web site Tuesday.
"This one’s a lot friendlier to the public. They’re going to get a lot more information," said Col. Robert M. Coupe, superintendent of the state police.
In addition to names, charges, addresses of home, work and school and photographs, the new Web site details information on any vehicles a sex offender may be driving and also lists an e-mail address, which is useful for locating online sex offenders.
Sgt. Thomas Carver of the Sexual Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit said the e-mail search tool is useful in situations where minors are talking to strangers over the Internet.
"This is the most valuable to parents," Sgt. Carver said, because they can simply insert an e-mail address into the Web pages sex offender search bar to see if the stranger is a registered offender.
Under the "Wanted for Failure to Register" link, also a new feature, Delawareans will be able to see up-to-the-moment information on offenders with warrants out on them.
There are two ways on top of the e-mail database to search for sex offenders on the Web site.
One is the offender search, where citizens can put in a name, a school or work address, or a business name and see what pops up in the area.
For the name search, a last name is needed, or at least a last initial.
"What I can do is just enter an ‘S’ and I will get any offenders whose last name begins with ‘S,’" Sgt. Carver explained.
The other sex offender search allows Delawareans to check out where offenders are in their neighborhoods.
The Web site uses a neighborhood mapping capability which provides citizens with a visual aid to determine the proximity of offenders.
Offenders are outlined in the area by red push pins for Tier III, or high-risk, offenders and uses yellow push pins for Tier II, moderate offenders.
Those browsing the map can simply click on a push pin and information about the specific offender will pop up.
The Web site changes were developed through the collaboration among the attorney general’s office, Delaware State Police, Delaware Child Predator Task Force, Department of Technology and Information and Delaware Justice Information System.
"Through this partnership we’ve been able to develop a state-of-the-art Web site to allow Delaware citizens to stay informed," said Col. Roupe.
The agencies also announced Tuesday a new initiative to require sex offenders who were convicted before the 1994 enactment of Delaware’s sex offender registry law to be placed on the State Sex Offender Registry.
Christina Showalter, a deputy attorney general and Kent County prosecutor with the state Department of Justice, said the initiative brings Delaware one step closer to being compliant with the Adam Walsh Act.
"This means, in the coming days, letter of notification will go out to close to 900 individuals who committed a sex crime prior to 1994," Ms. Showalter said.
"They will be required to respond to that letter in 10 days," or face being charge with a crime, she said.
The Delaware sex offender registry can be accessed through the state police Web site at dsp.delaware.gov or through the State of Delaware Web site at http://www.delaware.gov.

The press nailed the Catholic Church (rightfully so) but, when it comes to judges, and school personnel, and others, it seems they have a double standard.

But he's on the list , wouldn't you like to know why he is on there after all it's for the public safety

Three different people , 3 different crimes all three same punishment
Case by case is needed
You can't tell me that 15 years old don't all know what they are saying and doing .
If their parents don't have a clue , then they should be asking and finding

Well I'm tearing words out of the government own book.
Their excuse is to let people know about the hidden dangers of sex offenders living in and around them.
I as oop feel the government is going to far when they put people on the sex offender registry when their crime is consensual sex, but someone had to be charged.
We are taught about sex in school and some time sooner then our parent want us to know ( through heath ed ) and then sex ed were we are told it's ok to have sex as long as it's safe sex .
The government stops short of lying to jr high kids and lately it's trickled into grades 1 through 4 .
If the government wants a Dr Zhivago generation, where once the children reach the age of 18 they are tested to see if they are smarter then the elders and tested to see if they lie not to fail test because they know they are going to die then this government is not far off. Putting non violent offenders on the registry , many of these crimes the makers of the laws have committed them selves. When these registry were started they were not intended for getting even with the ex or putting children on there , teachers for helping change a diaper . 3 year old for taking a pee. A grand mother for going to Wal-mart to have her children and grand children bath tub photos copied . I can bet you every on of our legislators have a past digression in there lives and present that would be consider a sex offence , using a little common sense in these matters would go a great deal. The way the registry is being used no we have more people on welfare , and more crimes are going to be committed by these sex offender who are one time offender are more opp to commit crimes such as robbery and murder because they are being keep from holding jobs and living in housing.
They say it's not punishment to inform once the offender does his time to inform the community and work place of his offence, but it is they are stopping them from becoming a working member of the community.
Using the registry to get income to pay employees they don't have a job for but can't fire them or lay them off because it would be the state that has to pay un-employed state worker is wrong

I just got to ask this
How come there is no nation wide registry for people who carry the aids? Full blown or other wise.
This should be one of the top priorities for any state or government if you truly want to protect your citizen and from any un-seen dangers.
I my self would and am fear these unknown facts that the government refuse to release.
More fearful then teenagers having consensual sex and being charge as a sex offender for the rest their life

Here are some names of new registries that will be put on line
prison Abuse
bad Check abuse
drug abusers
drunk driver names
prescription drug users
lying politicians
child abusers
State workers who take teenagers to get abortions
The kids who get them
Teenagers using birth control
Doctors who give them
Big brother is watching and soon all will be named on some kind of registry before the year 2010 if congress has their way about it.
I wonder if they will ensure their names and family names will stay off

Again....we agree.
One thing that this forum is good for is both expressing your views and defending them against those who think differently. I don't think one person has said one bad thing about the GENERAL concept that SOME of our sex offender laws are too broad and too encompassing.
I will admit that I was actually surprised to see that many people here, lefties and righties alike, agree on this. I figured the righties would be all "they did the crime..." or "they are lucky they didn't get their ____ cut off".
Now, how far people are willing to roll back the laws is a different thing. If I was politicking for it, the first thing I would do is try to piggyback onto the movement to give back felons their right to vote once they've paid their debt to society.....if you can get the right to vote back, one of our most sacred rights, why should you be marked for life?
Write a few letters and see how far you get. I doubt that it will be a short battle; oposing politicians will have an automatic "soft on criminals" attack at anyone who even tries something, but that is probably the way to get started.

No more creepy then state of Delaware allowing sex offenders to attend classes were children are present , when they order them to not be around children in the begin with .
No more creeper then , trying to get the state of Delaware to look at their diverse laws on how they claim they want to protect children and others from sex offenders
No more creeper the allow just 30 thousand people come into the state Delaware for car races and not knowing who is a sex offender or not .
How many murders live in the state of Delaware that have been released from jail and we do not know their address ?
How many drug dealers live in the state of Delaware and we do not know their address
How many thieves live in Delaware and we do not know there address
The words Life Liberty and Justice for all
To say you can pay taxes to support the state , but ban you from having a home , having a job is not justice . When you have done your time it is not fair to continue to put sanctions on your ability to live in a free country .
The sex offender registry has some quirks that need to be worked out , get back to the main reason for it
Violent sex offenders that are released not grand ma with grand baby photo, not teenage encounters that were consensual , and not moon er ect....
Have you ever wonder why the Department of Children and their Families never report any of their foster families for being sex offender , how about the state employees that work for them ?

| Dude...we get that you feel very strongly about this issue, and I think we are all in agreement at some level with your position, but at some point, your fixation is a bit creepy.
