They said there would be more benefits...and it is better, for most.  The best is that we are using the radio spectrum a bit more efficiently then we were before.

Why do you think cell phone companies were pushing so hard to get you off of analog signals?  It is a pretty good comparison, except that they've put in a lot more towers in most areas.

There was a very good reason that they went to digital transmission, and that was the eventual reuse (meaning lease) of that bandwidth.  Given as everyone had years to adopt, and there were low cost methods to do the conversion, I am not sure what the FCC and this issue, which started waaay before the current administration, was supposed to do.

The "Joe Sixpacks", better get off their rears and contact their congressmen and FCC and let their feeling be known, your rights are being infringed upon and they will blank you out totally unless you let them know you will not sit still for it.

George, now that we've given you some unhelpful ribbing, let me suggest a few things;

 First, it won't help to contact the FCC. That ship has sailed and you are now in the digital world.

Next, being in Felton you are in a fringe area but really should be able to get signals if only from the Baltimore area which have the same shows as Philly. The antenna type and direction are important , though. You'll need to be sure to aim that antenna carefully to get the digital signals well.

Lastly, be sure to do a rescan of the channels. I was getting poor reception or none on several channels and after I rescanned, they came in clearly. Don't know why. Maybe the stations were using interim channels up until the switchover and then went into 'final mode'. Do it on each TV you have a box on.

Hope it helps, but if not, given the junk on TV these days you won't be missing much. Fire up your computer and come on back and spread some wisdom on Newszap....

A Bitter Pill To Swallow!

The "Joe Sixpacks" of this country and those who live in the rural areas again have been forgotten and sold out by "Big Brother", again. A few years back a couple of approachable prominent people were approached with a new form of entertainment media and deals were made.

The people were introduced to the new media and the truth was surpressed. People were told the new medium would only require for the old TV units a converter box and they would see no change in their current situation or they could purchase a new TV and that was all it took. No one mentioned that only those who were within a marginal distance from the transmission station would get a reliable signal the rest of those out side that margin can suck wind or encumber themselves to the monopoly that was created your choices are satellite services or cable and you are stuck with it, sounds like a monopoly to me, satellite services or cable. All the greedy monkeys just sitting there waiting to suck you in and put the screws to you.

The "Joe Sixpacks", better get off their rears and contact their congressmen and FCC and let their feeling be known, your rights are being infringed upon and they will blank you out totally unless you let them know you will not sit still for it.

It is my opinion "Big Brother" is no longer our friend and has become a "BIG BULLY"!
