Meh. Your complaints are the same ones that have been used for every census since 1790. The data is used by a lot of people for a lot of reasons, and every 10 years the government hires a bunch of temps to do the work. Regardless of who has speciified what gets counted, the fact is that it is the law, and needs to be done, and you are not going to fix that in the next 10 minutes.
I have no problem with fair arguments, and often stood up for GWB when the discussions descended into conspiracy type stuff. I believe that GWB did what he thought was best for the country, but I believe he was wrong in some of those beliefs. I believe that Obama wants what is best for the country, and isn't doing it to destroy it or turn it into something else, but is doing what he thinks is best. The problem is that too many of you want to attribute any and everything he does to some dark plot that you aren't really sure what it is, but you don't like it so there must be some other reason for it.
The Census is the perfect example. Procedures, forms, and policies were put in place years ago, long before even the primaries, so to blame the invasiveness on Obama is patently ridiculous. You think the process is bad? Fine. You think it is invasive? Try to get any individual data from the Census from before 1930....you can't get it. I guess the fact that Grandma had no working toilets in her shack in 1930 could be considered an invasion of privacy, but most people don't care after 70 years.

It would certainly take more then a day. Think about it....the average mailman probably spends 5 seconds per house now. A census takes a few minutes, at least. It would never get done.
I continue to be amazed at how easy the right scares....instead of boo, all we have to do is listen to Rush and figure out what word or phrase drives y'all into a babbling fetal position.
Dear Fred, often times I wonder about you. You crow about the right being scared completely overlooking the fact that ACORN is a nefarious untrustworthy organization. Mailmen can do this on an overtime basis and still be cost effective. Your defense of anything Obama leads me to believe that if he proposed that each of us get microchipped you would agree and defend it because it is not as noticable as a tatoo on the forearm.

If the Postal Service were asked only to ask the questions the Census really requires, how many people live here, it would not be a big deal for them to do it. Instead, the White house will send their operatives around trying to force more information from people for some purpose other than what the original intent of the Census.
No, Barry's administration isn't the first one to use invasive questioning ,but his is probably the first one to run it from the White House and politicize it by doing so.

Common Sense Congressman
Freshman Congressman Jason Chaffetz from Utah is one of the few common sense people in the halls of Congress right now. One of the bills he's proposing would save taxpayers millions, and it's a great idea. Instead of hiring thousands of people to conduct the census, why not use another program that already has employees visiting houses each and every day -- the United States Postal Service. A common sense idea that makes so much sense it will certainly be shot down by Congress. Listen to Glenn's conversation with the Congressman. Transcript ,
