Maybe all the citizens who have gotten after the council and won't give up are getting through. Lets hope and pray it is so. IF people KEEP PARTICIPATING and speaking out the Council MUST eventually start to "serve" instead of "master" the public o get replaced by someone who will. The Independant had some great letters the past few weeks and call to the public has had some great info...excluding the propaganda of "friends of the regeme" that is. IF everyone will leave out the false accusations and replace them with "it makes me feel like" or similar statments and then put in te facts, "just the facts" as Friday used to say on "Dragnet"... THEN we might start making progress as a "team" and "family" of Apache Junction.

You should have gotten Mayor Insalaco, I would have payed triple to dunk him! He needs a good dunking! LOL All thou he must have gone to the doctor and got a good ear cleaning or got a new puppy dog or something, because he seems to be starting to listen to the peoples wishes a little bit better here lately. I have noticed a change, just cant quite put my finger on what it is. I realy do think he use to have a drug problem, the only weird thing is his drug of choice was money. He must have finaly gotten some help for his problem. Then again maybe this is just a good trip, it has to be the darn heat! I know its to good to be true!

Christa,

It would be a neat idea if the AJDPC would have some kind of sticker or poster that local businesses could post in their windows. Maybe it will cut the tweeker traffic a little? I've seen far more tweekers in the new store in the past month than I did in the first year at the old store, just 2 miles west.

Jail and prison time does work, when enough of it is given. Pinal County refuses to prosecute possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia at the felony level. If attorneys don't feel it is a felony then the statute should be changed. As it stands now, a felony is charged, the County Atty declines it and it is resubmitted as a misdemeanor at the City level.

Jail time rarely results from misdemeanors and these derelicts are back on the streets breaking into your cars, houses and businesses.

There is a direct relation to getting the addicts and low level dealers off the streets and the number of burglaries and assaults. Watch the AJNEWS arrest reports and compare the 'regular' names of arrestees and how magically two weeks later the burglaries drop off. Is is coincidence? No.

More felony prosecution for repeat offenders, longer sentences.

Great I look forward to meeting you. This is a problem that affects all of us in the community. I agree treatment is a more effective option.

If you can't make this particular meeting you're still always welcome to come to any one that fits into your schedule.

Well , I for one , am going to try to make it !  Although I do not live in Apache Junction , I live in a county island just 3 miles west. We are still fighting the drug war here and unfortunately some of the addicts end up over there.

Since we will be expanding this fall, I definately would be interested in getting info. on any programs for recovery that there may be. Jail and prison time does NOT work on 95% of the meth addicts here.

I doubt that fishy, but at least I don't have to go out of state to find work.  There are alot of nursing jobs here, more than most places.  Could it be no one wants to have you work for them?

Hey Christa, it is because Fishy thinks that if his name is everywhere he must be famous instead of infamous.  Like the way he uses CTTP for grandstanding.  He doesn't realize that it has the opposite affect.  People might listen more to him if he wasn't so rude, or if he didn't spend the taxpayers money.  You know, in some states they have passes the fivoulous lawsuit law.  I think when one doesn't have the ducks in the row and can't even fill out the paperwork as it says on the form, that constititues frivoulous.  I think those should be paid by the person that files them don't you?  Especially when they complain about how our tax money is spent.

Christa, WatchingYou and others,

I was with you folks in spirit yesterday. Between foot surgery that never healed quite right and being a "money grubbing capitalist", <grin> I couldn't participate in the walk. Keep us posted on events - we'll try to help in other ways.

Elliot,

Thanks for your interest in the coalition.

Yes some I have some first hand experience. I've been raising my four year old granddaughter since she was three months old due to drug issues. I have been in and out of court so many times with her parents I've lost track.  One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do was call CPS on my own child.
I'd never wish that on anyone.

I've been volunteering for the Pinal County courts since 2004. I do Restorative Justice and am on call to the Juvenile Detention Center. Many of these children have issues with drugs.

The Young Parents Program at MSEC is where I volunteer for AJUSD , yes sometimes drugs play role there as well. It hard to watch when drugs and children get mixed up together.

I could go on a lot more but I think this is enough to answer your "just wondering".

You should try volunteering Elliot, it's just amazing what happens when one gets outside of themself.

Your welcome to come to the meetings any time they're open to the public. The next event we are planning is a community awareness walk through town in April. :)
