I could not care less about the fence. I am pointing out a continuing disregard for our city ordinances. Their outlook is that they can do anything they want and the rest of us have to live with it. The ordinances are there for a reason, and the enforcement has to start with someone! There are a lot of people in town that resent how the team treated our city officials, this is probabily why they were turned in.
A pool fence is usually not in the front yard at the property line.

My intent was to show that no one particular person should be singled out for having an illegal fence.
I would agree...
But, why is a 6-foot fence along a front property line illegal in the first place??? What harm is caused to others in the community by such a fence???
As long as the actions of one citizen do not cause or contribute to the harm of another, why not let the first citizen be???

| Ajbookchin - I don't care so much about "Shannon's fence" in particular but the person who started this blog obviously does. My intent was to show that no one particular person should be singled out for having an illegal fence. It is just something else to talk about and the issue affects a lot of property owners in our city.

FWIW, I am unfamiliar with the fence ordinance so I'll have to look into it but - what if there is a pool?
Most insurance companies require a fence with a minimum height of 6 feet around a pool, or they won't insure you.

Which now brings me to the issue of "Shannon's fence." Our City would be remiss in their obligations if they are going to cite one property owner for an illegal fence and not cite every other property owner who has an illegal fence. The illegal fences are not hard to see. All you have to do is drive down the street and you can see them. It would be an unjust application of the law to cite one property owner and not the rest, especially when that one property owner just happens to be Shannon Flynn. THIS SIMPLY IS NOT FAIR.
This needs to be changed. It has nothing what so ever to so with recall, Walp or "the Team". It is what it is, wrong.

| ajbizowner. Project? Why did you move it then? I stand corrected. Nobody died. But the anger of the people on this forum is amazing to me. I was just throwing it back. If you would like I will pm you a list of over 50 code violations that make a car or a fence a joke. How about illegal buildings unsafe and no pemits or to code. Illegal electrical wiring that is not to code. Just waiting to electracute a person at this illegal home business. Illegal water and plumbing. People stealing electric, water being stolen from both water companies in town. Police who do not enforce dirt bike riding on public streets, and on and on and on. I am surprised code even responds to these trivial complaints, as they sure don't care of the major ones. Wait until someone dies and the city is sued Big, for not enforcing known violations. I just do not see why so many people on this blog do not seem to have a life.

Who died and appointed YOU code compliance police? The joke's on you - the car's been gone for weeks. Besides, it was a "project car", which is allowed by city ordinances, unlike Shannon's fence. If I was in charge of code compliance, after Shannon's remarks at CTTP last night, there would be a bundle of citations issued to every one of her neighbors who also have illegal fences and they'd have their neighbor to thank for it.

Please get over yourself. You're mad at me for taking my kids to the meetings, now you're mad at my fence. What's the point in speaking with you over these matters? It's your way or no way.
Yes, my front fence is illegal, just like 100's of others that have land and fences like mine.
The ordinance is BOGUS! It needs to be changed. Why can a single family home only have a 4' 6" fence but a multi family have an 8 foot fence? I live on land which we own. I pay my taxes and yet it is a class 2 misdemeanor if I do not take the fence down to 4' 6"?

Mike is very friendly with the city attorney which I have stated should be reviewed if nothing else. This complaint about my fence came in days after I stated this at cttp. It is my understanding that an anonymous call came into the attorney's phone, then he, the attorney took the complaint to compliance management. Then someone placed a yellow post it note on the desk of the compliance officer. Funny how Mike is nasty about my fence. If there was a anonymous caller who could it be?

Fact: Flynn has a 6' illegal fence
Fact: Councilman Chip Wilson stated last night that the fence code was under review.
Fact: The code is under review for commercial horse boarding operations. P&Z has not made any decisions as of yet.
Fact: Flynn does not board horses, therefore their fence is still illegal!!
