Well, they do have to pay for it somehow.  Exercise equipment ain't cheap and I don't know of any place else you can work out for free.

Yea, that’s what I was told, along with if they allowed the indigent to use the place for free everyone would want the same. What a lame excuse! I'm 37 but this isn’t just about me because there are many indigent residents who literally need the services for self-improvement etc. Just think about those of our residents who are in programs trying to overcome addiction etc. Just to have something to do like that could mean the difference of them staying clean or not. Seems like nobody gives any of these things any thought. All they care about is lining their pockets with 30 pieces of silver.

Gollum: Filthy little hobbites. They stole it from us.

No it wasn't. I believe it was something similar to 4H teaching the kids about horsemanship if I remember right. There are many kids here in AJ that are to indigent to be able to own horses that still love horses. They would eat a program like that up. When I was a kid I was lucky to live near the original superstition stables and an old cowboy by the name of Warren Boren taught me a lot. Especially how to ride and tell if a horse is overheating or not. To this day I have never owned a horse my self because I can’t afford it. But I have never forgotten all that Warren taught me. May he rest in peace. He was a darn good man!

Gollum: Once it takes hold of us it never lets go.

If you are on Medicare, some insurance plans pay for participation in exercise programs at the multi-gen center.  I would love to use the indoor basketball court - I've been shooting hoops at the park but it is getting too hot and the concrete is taking a toll on my feet.

I actually prefer Saguaro Family Fitness.  I haven't been there in awhile because my brother bought a Bow Flex and then never used it, so I am using it now.

That’s something else that’s been bothering the heck out of me. I want to know what gold canyon organizations especially the equestrian variety are doing using our rodeo grounds for programs for their children without including the kids from Apache Junction. I’m referring to a program I read about this last spring or fall in the newspaper. I don’t remember all the details now. But as it read in the paper it was only for kids that lived in gold canyon. My dander about went through the roof when I read it!

Gollum: Wicked men. Servants of Sauron.

Are you referring to "The Black Stallion Literacy Program"?

I suppose I should have been more specific. I meant the new public facilities meaning the stuff contained in the multi generation center.

I edited it to read corectly now, I apoligise for the confusion.

Gollum: Oh! Cruel hobbit! It does not care if we be hungry. It does not care if we should die!

The other day on the public access channel the mayor was bragging about all the great things he has done for Apache Junction’s people. I surly would like to hear him acknowledge whom he includes in that list. Because the only people who can make use of any of the new public facilities in the multi generation center are people with money. Anyone inquiring about access to any of the facilities who cant afford to pay is told tough cookie and turned away. I have a news flash poor people can vote to just remember that next time one of you are up for reelection!

Correction: I apologize I forgot there is one new facility the poor can use besides the foodbank. The jail when they get board from nothing to do and break the law. Gollum: Cold be heart and hand and bone. Cold be travelers far from home.
