Aren't you being a bit of an alarmist.  "black Friday"?  Not even close. (on a comparable basis to when the market tanked in '87, we'd need to see a Dow at around 11,000). The central banks pumped money into their economys to provide additional liquidity and to prop up interest rates. This is not to minimize the credit crunch precipitated by the subprime loan problem.  Sure, some lenders won't survive, but that's not all bad if you consider some consolidation in the industry is probably warranted.  Ditto for some home builders.  The economy is strong and the volatility in the stock is not unprecedented.  Most analysts advise "staying the course".  Builders are not interested in having large inventories and loan companies don't want to be in the real estate business. Hence, builders willingness to lower home prices and loan companies willingness to negotiate terms are good business decisions.  Don't forget the market was at 14,000 just a week or so ago.  And, no, we're not headed for a recession.

Admonishing the voters of suprise is another matter.  What do you hope to accomplish? Get votes?  Appears you may enjoy pontificating in order to make you point.  Doubt this forum is appropriate for either.  But, you did get me to thinking, hence, this reply.

I was told to revisit your site.  I still find it filled with hate mail but after reading different forums I do have a comment.

You should have your ballots today and I am sure the people here will vote as they have already shown they will but there is a question raised by one individual about the transportation issues.  I have to agree that MAG money will not be forthcoming soon and there is a problem but if I may, let me tell you about another problem that is of greater impact.

A man who works construction here in Surprise related to me two days ago that one of the builders is rumored to be filling bankruptcy protection.  Second another builder is lowering the price on there new homes by as much as 100,000 to be able to get finance on them.  DO ANY OF YOU REALIZE WHAT THIS MEANS TO THE VALUE OF YOUR HOME?

Did you follow the stock market yesterday.  Do you realize that the world bank, The Bank of England, and other banks including the US Government artificially proped up the drop the market was taking to keep from having a black Friday?

We live in a fragle world.  Talk about the reality of a Prasada even being built if homes can't be financed that are already here.  Think of the loss of the dollars in revenue streams.  You know the budget relies on real revenue, and it is just the best guess of the City that make it up.

But if you think we have problems now, just wait.  I am not going to speak to you about experience, about candidate v. candidate but I am going to ask you a question.  Why, if you really care about the people you are sending to the frying pan, would you vote for them when they have no idea of how government works, what answers are, especially in light of the fact THE PUBLIC WILL RECALL THEM IN A YEAR BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THE ANSWERS, AND IN MANY CASES, THE QUESTIONS.

Why would you vote for a candidate for mayor who continues to say he will not devest himself of a business that is in direct conflict with his job, and who long ago saw this coming and did not do anything to stop it or even bring it to the table.

I understand that the odds are bad but I think we all need to work together and pray for wisdom.  Stop running down all of us that get on to speak to you about issues.

Make this forum one that people can open up in and WORK TO HELP SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS RATHER THAN A NAME CALLING CONTEST.

Finally, I do not know this man that wrote about being on Doc's campaign, in fact I have never met or spoke to him but I was told to come here and look at his post.  I did and as someone who never met him I thought he was honest in his view and did the correct thing in forgiving differences and finally I think he said good luck to all of us running.

We do all need that and hopefully after the votes come in, we will get behind who ever wins and work together to make a better surprise.

It appears to me that the administrator doesn't treat all the posters fair on this blog.  After all, he deletes some posts, but leaves others that are more damaging or contain personal information.

My question is, why haven't posters like Wild Bill and Wild Bill2 been barred from posting here.  They spread vitriol and post personal information on people and the administrator does nothing about them.

If you are going to enforce a rule like this, it must be enforced equally among all posters, not just a select few.

It could be you

I agree, speaking your mind is still one of the most important liberties we have. I also
agree that civil discourse gets the best mileage for all sides of any issue.

The newszap blog has opened an avenue where we can communicate with one another without the fear of retaliation from ether side, this is a good start.

I had talked to the editor Matt Loeschman in the past about giving us a method where we can communicate with one another in a clean forum. Thank you Matt.

Newszap.com is excited to introduce a new approach to its public forums, emphasizing a new theme:

Free Speech (with Civility)

We believe that the public forum gives everyone a chance to express their opinions on local issues. If citizens disagree, we expect them to disagree without being disagreeable.

We hope individuals will speak to issues and not engage in personal attacks or “bullying” of other members. If the latter occurs and a complaint is sent to webmaster@newszap.com, members may have their registrations immediately withdrawn and be asked to seek out a different website to express themselves.

While this action might be considered drastic, we believe the step is necessary to preserve our “free speech with civility” mission, which is further described on our policies and disclaimers page.

Thanks for participating!
