"Surprise_teacher
So you'd rather have the current situation - bored teens that have absolutely nothing to do here in Surprise? I somehow doubt they're all sitting at home playing Monopoly."
I would rather the parents be parenting them and know where they were but that's a pipe dream for many.. obviously.
...And no, your right, they are not at home playing Monopoly - their not at home studying and improving those stellar Dysart school scores either.
They will go home... get ready for the evening out at the cinema, catch a flick- maybe two for the price of one depending on security THEN they will filter out into the nearest development until they can catch a ride home or whatever. I'm not saying everyone - OBVIOUSLY but it only takes a few more than what is being seen now in Litchfield Manor. I'm saying that the current problem will only be compounded. I'm not the only person concerned - it's my understanding that the HOA is looking into hiring private security for the weekends at great cost as they are very concerned as well.

I think the movies will be nice. I hate driving all the way to Gateway or Arrowhead to go the movies.
I also am concerned about the dreaded shopping cart gang. And with all the recreational drug use that will be going on. I hear that Mexico has stepped up production and will be exporting 1 kilo of recreational drugs just to this area for those teens. "
I really am looking forward to actually having the option of a 'date night' during the week if we wanted too. It's just impossible to catch movies - there is no time so... in that regard, I am looking forward to the movie theater as well.
ummm What is a shopping cart gang? You hear Mexico is increasing drug production ? You have the inside line on that stuff? OH wait, that's your attempt to discredit a genuine concern. OH, ok, I see, you like having random shopping carts in the parks, common walls torn down, graffiti, park lights broken, volleyball and basketball nets torn up, $10,000 in sprinkler damage, needles being found in the sand of the parks near the playground equipment, the playground equipment for children being just destroyed, glass bottles being taken out of trashcans and thrown onto the brick walls just to watch them break, used condoms being found within the playground equipment and on and on and on. This is generally the work of bored teens and a movie theater will only attract more. No GEM127, your right to make fun of me because I'm so ridiculous to not want to look and know about that stuff. You totally have a point, alll of that stuff is totally untrue IF I SHUT MY BLINDS AND NEVER GO OUTSIDE OR TO ANY HOA MEETINGS AND BE A HERMIT. Good job. Your so insightful. WAY to call me out!

MSP, I would enjoy a true local theatre. Surprise is more than big enough for at least a couple of cinema complexes. The city would also enjoy not sending all those entertainment tax dollars down the road. DO we have recent West Valley examples of neighborhood troubles and blight caused by a new cinema complex?
taero, I have not personally experienced any but I have never lived just north of a theatre - have you? What has been your experience? Amen to any tax dollers Surprise can get!
Do you know? I will in about a month though.
Do you live in Litchfield Manor?

Nice to have the theater in Surprise.
NOT looking forward to all the bored teens after the movies that will migrate north into the Roseview and Litchfield Manor developments and cause all kinds of property damage, bringing shopping carts into the developments, recreational drug use and drinking, SPEEDING!
Is this a chain?
Why yes it is.
