Ms Ferreira
Could you please tell me which park the City of Surprise owns in Marley Park and if possible how much has the City spent on it's development?
As always, Bob Vukanovich
Above is an email that was sent to Acting City Manager Ms Ferreira on the 13th of May
As of now I can find no record of the City of Surprise owning a park in Marley Park... they do say we manage Heritage Park. Bob V

| Email the City Manager, prisila.ferreira@surpriseaz.com and ask her what park does the City own in Marley Park.

Well, this would be the issue, does the city own ANY SOFTBALL FIELDS located in the MP sub-division, and if so, why aren't the 'powers that be' at sports and rec scheduling games over there?? Just wondering, I don't have an inside tract on the city council.

| I believe they have more then one park in Marley Park, one park should belong to the City of Surprise.

| So..... Is it a city owed park/ball field or does it belong solely to the residents of MP?? I have no issue not using it if it belongs to that sub-division, they pay HOA fees etc, BUT, if it is a city facility, then we ought to be using this valuable asset. The Kansas City fields are not set up for softball!!

The City of Surprise allowed Marley Park to form an improvement district for their development in return they were at no charge, give to the city a fully developed park for the general public.
The City had $2M in the budget to develop this park but we were assured that if they were given an ok to form the improvement district that the money would come from Marley Park, I was not then on the council so I am not sure that our money was not used

| The way I heard it, Marley Park residents didn't like the traffic, they complained, so the softball/baseball teams are not allowed to play any games there!! Funny thing though, we all pay taxes to the city regardless of which sub-division we live in, if we can't use the fields then the residents of MP should buy them from city and they would be a privately owned greenbelt.

May she rest in peace, but Joan Shafer made some wierd deals with a lot of people to get things done in Surprise. Have you read about the car dealers going in on Bell Road and their tax breaks.

Question does any1 know why these two city owned fields are not used for baseball/softball games. I called over to the park and rec. dept. last week and it seemed like I got the run around about the issue. Bottom line was theses fields are only used for practice.
I think these fields are the best Surprise has to offer not only for the players but for the attendance that comes and watches the games. The "practice only" seems like that city wants the fields to be private city fields only for Marley Park.
I was told that the city signed some kind of contract with Marley Park about those fields. I have not dugg any deeper on that issue maybe some1 with more time can find out about that.
Thanks for your input.
