Obama camp 'prepared to talk to Hamas'

Incoming administration will abandon Bush's isolation of Islamist group to initiate low-level diplomacy, say transition sources.

Why, this is a terrorist group?

The politics of personal destruction, you learned that well from the Clintons.  If you can't refute the facts, attack the messenger.  You liberals need to get another playbook!
Actually, I learned it from Bush/Rove...you apparently forgot the love child story they dumped on McCain in SC in 2000.  Besides, why do you assume I'm opposed to toe suckers?

In his speech today, PEBO defined the problem once again. He offered no detailed plan.

One of PEBO's news reporter supporters said that she expects him to continue his campaign throughout his first term.  So what does that mean?  That means he can promise the moon and stars and change it every other week and his supporters will still buy into it because they are so busy cleaning up the slobber off the floor they aren't paying attention.

He's is jamming this welfare state package right down our throats under the guise of the "sky is falling" and we are going to get worse if the government doesn't step in and save the day.  When was the last time the government saved the day EVER?  He knows as soon as he cements the deal and the bottom 50% of wage earners will get a welfare check in the mail, democrats are in for a long time to come because once you start giving the farm away, it's nearly impossible to take it back.

Welcome to the first GIANT step to the left, a.k.a. SOCIALISM -- take from those who have and give it to those who have less, SOCIALISM, income redistribution.  BUT, and this is a huge BUT, it's not sustainable. He can't print that much money.  He is already printing it for this TRILLION DOLLAR boondoggle, A TRILLION dollars folks and you aren't going to see any change whatsoever because of it, much like the last "stimulus" we got and didn't need.

If he wants to do deep and real tax cuts across the board, not tax credits, then he will get somewhere because everyone will have more disposable income to spend and invest and business will start creating jobs once more, it will stop the bleeding.  We, the people, are the ones that stimulate the economy by spending, not the the government spending it for us. When we spend, the government gets their share and everybody is happy.

I thought you guys said he was so smart?  When are we going to start seeing signs of that?  Right now he's just trying to fear monger you all into submission, much like the global warming nonsense.  I've never been as depressed as I was after listening to his speech today, it was classic doom and gloom politics to force his agenda through, he sounded exactly like that idiot Harry Reid.  He should be ashamed of himself, very dishonest.:X:cool:

Maybe because he hasn't done anything requiring a defense.  Why didn't you defend McCain/Palin?  All you did was call Palin "brilliant"...ummmm..rather weak defense particulary in view of the interviews she mangled.

Here is some real news:

Joe the plumber headed to Middle East Posted: 09:01 PM ET

Then-Sen. Obama's chance meeting with Wurzelbacher on the campaign trail in October turned the Ohio plumber into a nationally-known figure. (CNN) – Joe Wurzelbacher: Plumber. Campaign celebrity. Foreign correspondent?

‘Joe the Plumber’ is headed overseas to try his hand at covering the conflict in Gaza, Wurzelbacher’s publicist Thomas Tabback confirmed to CNN Wednesday.
Wurzelbacher plans to spend 10 days in Israel reporting on the conflict for pjtv.com, a Web site run by conservative media outlet Pajamas Media.

The famous plumber will be focusing on the Israeli perspective on the situation. "It's tragic, I mean it really is,” Wurzelbacher told CNN affiliate WNWO “I don't say that in any little way. It's very tragic, but at the same time what are the Israeli people supposed to do.”

Wurzelbacher told WNWO he’s not worried about the potential dangers of his new gig. "Being a Christian I'm pretty well protected by God I believe. That's not saying he's going to stop a mortar for me, but you gotta take the chance,” he told the CNN affiliate.

“Israeli officials are very excited to have him,” Tabback told CNN.

TYRANNY OF THE TAX-EXEMPT
By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

Published in the New York Post on January 6, 2009

It now looks like half of President-elect Barack Obama's stimulus package will take the form of "tax cuts" for 95 percent of all Americans. Yet this wouldn't so much boost the economy as trigger a massive, unhealthy shift in American politics.

Under Obama's plan, the majority of American voters would pay no federal income taxes, but would get money from the government instead. That is, these "refundable tax credits" are basically welfare checks - and Obama's plan would leave the most of us collecting, not paying.

A $200 billion giveaway won't do much to get a $14 trillion economy rolling again. But the plan would leave any future taxpayer revolt no hope of majority support.

Today, the bottom 50 percent of US taxpayers pays a total of $30.6 billion in federal income taxes on a combined income of about $1 trillion. So about 3 percent of all federal income-tax payments come from the poorest half of the country. (The top 1 percent pays 40 percent; the top 25 percent pay 85 percent of the federal income tax.)

Obama's plan - he'd give all couples a $1,000 refundable tax credit and all single people $500 - would funnel more than $50 billion to the lowest half of the country, thereby completely wiping out their total federal tax liability. In most cases, it would trigger a "refund" welfare check.

In one stroke, this would transform the majority of voters from taxpayers into tax eaters - and leave an increasingly small minority to pay the bill. Whether or not this is good economics, it is very dangerous politics.Essentially, it would put those who actually pay the taxes that fund our government into much the same situation as landlords in New York City - hopelessly outvoted by their tenants, who use their political clout to limit rents and landlords' profits.Since Ronald Reagan, the anti-tax movement has been based on a blue-collar revolt against high taxes; it would lose that constituency under the Obama plan. Taxpayers would be politically helpless and the tax-eating majority would have free reign to impose any levies it wished.

Almost all of the 68 million tax filers in the country's bottom economic half would get a check from Washington at tax time. Some would be among the 22 million who get money from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Others would get a $500 check through the (Bush-passed) Child Tax Credit - and all would get funds through the new Obama tax credit.Welfare would no longer be only for the poor - the majority of the voters would depend on government handouts. This very system is what makes European social democracies so resistant to change. In 1980, the bottom 50 percent of the nation paid 7 percent of the national tax bill, after refund and credits. It now pays 3 percent; under Obama's plan, it would pay less than nothing (that is, it would net a profit from the IRS).

In 1980, the top 1 percent paid 19 percent of the income-tax burden; now it's 40 percent. Taxes have become the province only of the rich.Of course, the shift in tax burden also mirrors the incredible increase in incomes of the wealthy in the last 30 years - the top 1 percent earned only 8 percent of the total national income in 1980; now it earns 22 percent. And the poorest half has seen its share of national income fall from 17 percent in 1980 to only 12.5 percent today.

So it is both fair and sensible to give the poor a tax break and to draw the bulk of federal revenues from the rich. But to exempt the bottom half - a majority of the voters - from paying any taxes and to award them refund checks instead would dangerously alter the fundamental balance of national politics. For the economically well off, it could effectively become taxation without representation - which, as the founders of our nation warned, leads to tyranny.:shock::cool:

Clean coal technology just ask the millions of Americans in eastern Tennessee about how clean that coal is.  Billions of tons of sludge in the Tennesse river polluted beyond belief, millions of residents have their drinking water poisoned and it traveling towards Georgia, North and South Carolina and Alabama soon to affect 10's of millions.  Believe in the clean coal technology lie a little more.  Let those scream bravo on how clean it burns and the air is clean oops the billions of tons of by-product is best not mentioned.  Move along nothing to see here.  Typical.:X

Here is one of the biggest farce of them all.  The middle income "tax cuts".  PEBO is sending his minions out this weekend to rally the left to gain some waning support for his programs.  As the great Saul Alinksy promotes to politicians who are seeking a Socialistic Government, always go for the middle class.  And that is what PEBO is doing.  BIG ANNOUNCEMENT -- The middle class deserves a tax cut.

Well here is the truth of the Middle Class and what has been done for them under President Bush. Now PEBO says he is going to do away Bush's tax cuts  which will
RAISE TAXES on the MIDDLE CLASS.

Middle Class Got Tax Cut Under Bush

Newsmax December 2008

Barack Obama's campaign pledge to "rebuild the middle class" by giving tax breaks to 95 percent of workers and their families surely won him votes.

But an analysis by Investor’s Business Daily found that the middle class already got a large tax break under President George W. Bush.

Citing data from the Congressional Budget Office, IBD disclosed that the
effective tax rate on the middle fifth of households fell from an average of about 17.1 percent under President Bill Clinton to 14.4 percent under Bush. That's a 16 percent tax cut for the middle class.

As for the oft-heard claim from the left that middle-class incomes are stagnant or shrinking, a study last year by the Minneapolis Fed concluded that "incomes of most types of middle American households have increased substantially over the past three decades."

Real household income did grow just 18 percent over the past 30 years. But after correcting for distortions in the data, Terry Fitzgerald, a Fed senior economist, found that "median household income for most household types . . . increased by 44 percent to 62 percent from 1976 to 2006." And per-person income surged 80 percent.

IBD observes, “Yes, many Americans are suffering in this recession, including the middle class. But the last thing we need is another general in a phony class war telling people how bad they have it.”

Amen!!

Here we go again, it is alright to bash President Bush for everything, but everyone has to give Obama a hand and not point out anything that they feel is wrong.  Why all of a sudden is this suppose to be the norm - Oh, because Obama is a Democrat and we must not be allowed to point out anything wrong - like him recycling Clinton's administration and reneging on some of his promises already (no tax raise for the rich, not pulling the troops out of Iran in the time limit he promised, etc.).  The double standard on here is amazing.  I feel sorry for those that accuse people of doing exactly what they have been doing for some time, because they don't see what they did was just as bad; maybe it is because they feel they are the only one who is correct.  Maybe if they practiced what they preached, it would be a different world...something to think about!!!

Raz, you are correct, there is enough blame to go around to both the Democrats and Republicans, as well as Independents and Green Party, etc., but you will never convince some on here that the Democrats have done anything wrong ever!!!  Didn't you know they walk on water, just ask some of the posters they will be more than happy to tell you.

That's right.  The NYT just did a scathing article on the financial meltdown and guess who is the only one they blamed for it?  Yup, President George W Bush.  The reality of their bias is so blatantly obvious it's almost laughable.  How dishonest can they get?  Even the democrat pundits are saying "oh my gosh, are you kidding me"?  Everyone knows there is fault to be found on both sides, President Bush should have never let up on the warning, he should have gone straight to the people and looked them in the eye and told us these yahoos weren't doing their jobs and trying to keep the regulators from doing theirs.  But at the end of the day, Barney Franks and Chris Dodd, Nancy and Harry, Maxine Waters, PEBO and the rest of the merry band all have this one hanging around their necks and they know it.

If it was just GWB's fault, you would be hearing this on a daily basis, Nancy would use that haughty nasty grimace of hers and say he should be shot.  But they aren't, why?  Because they know the proof is in the hearings and video tapes.

But the republicans should be the ones screaming and pointing the finger straight back at them but instead don't want to be the party pointing the finger.  Give me a break.  They should be jamming their finger right in their eyeball. :X:cool:

Gemster in one breath wants only peace, hope, blind faith and happiness going forward in support of our new PEBO.  But then in the second breath rails against President Bush and what an awful mess his administration has placed us in and how hard it's going to be for poor, poor PEBO to get us out of such a mess. Isn't that called talking out of both sides of the mouth?  If the peace and harmony rule applies to one, shouldn't it apply to the other?

So, let's see if we have this striaght. It's okay that GEM et al denigrates President Bush and blames him for virtually everything that has gone wrong in the world for the past 8 years, but fully expects all of us who did not support PEBO in any way, shape or form to suddenly fall hopelessly and completely in line and in awe of him like the libs have from day one.

Hear that sound GEM?  It's the buzzer going off for WRONG ANSWER.  That is not going to happen nor should it. What kind of power do you really want to give this guy with that blind faith of yours?  Hitler had that same power over ninnies just as Jim Jones did.  They convinced people they could do no wrong and they were the answer to all of their problems and they were going to make the world a brighter place for them as long as they didn't question them along the way.  PEBO doesn't like to be questioned either.  He chides anyone who does and tries to make them feel foolish for doing so.  That is how it begins.:X:cool:

I just can't figure out why you continually pit parties against each other and blame one party for all the misfortunes and praise the other party for doing nothing or visa versa. Maybe you should just count your blessings that their are different parties and they all have the same man at the helm.

But I really think some on here are just bitter with the world in general and no matter what gets done whether good or bad, you will find fault.

You will go to your grave angry.

How interesting GEM...(wasn't long ago you were all angry, bitter, and untrusting)...now you sound like an entirely different person.

She (Michelle) loves William Ayers a.k.a. Billy the Terrorist and especially his wife, Bernadene the Bomber, they worked together in the same law office and that is how Michelle my Belle met BHO and that is how BHO met Billy the Terrorist and that is how they came to know Tony Rezko and that is how they all ended up in the same neighborhood along with Racist Louis Farrakhan.

Kind of exhausting that "it's a small world" thing isn't it?  Then there is Rahm Emanuel and Father Phleger and the list is never ending until you hit a wall called BLAGOJOVICH....who happily brings them all together once again, THE CHICAGO THUG POLITICAL MACHINE.  Out pops BHO.:cool:

OldEagleEye wrote: Bush will be gone in just 24 more days.  Then what or about whom are you all going to rant about?  Consider this:

I can imagine the anointed one waking up in the middle of the night over there in his rented compound in Honolulu in a cold sweat, thinking to himself, "This (situation) isn't at all what I had in mind when I decided to run for the Presidency two years ago; even five months ago when I'd won the nomination or picked Joe Biden for his foreign policy gravitas, or lately as I paid off some political IOU's with my left-wing cabinet nominees.  I have absolutely no idea what to do, how to protect my image as my fixes get announced and implemented, as more stuff keeps happening, and, heaven forbid, as people begin to seriously question and challenge my qualifications, my judgments, and/or my abilities to lead.  I keep seeing this image -- something I've never seen or faced before as a community organizer and machine politician.  Come to think about it, I don't think anyone on my team has ever seen or faced it either.  I wonder if it shows?  Hope not.  Can I keep faking it?  I have no choice.  What is it?"

As the days pass toward January 20, itll become clearer and clearer to him.  It's what others, much more experienced and worldly than he, have referred to as "The Eye of the Tiger"?  Only when you're facing it do you know what it is.  Then it's too late to study, confer and "get back to you on that".

We'll all see how he handles himself when it's just him and the Tiger, very soon.  All I can say is that it's a heck of a time to find out what he's made of and to have to pray that he's actually the man he's only told us, not shown us, that he is.  He wanted it; he's got it.  May he find Godspeed with the Tiger.

PEBO is nothing but a "paper Tiger".  He has no clue.  He is surrounding himself with people that will make all the decisions for him and he can play act President and vacation and act important. His biggest project will be turning the White House Bowling alley into a basketball court so he can play.  Right now he's hiding from the press as is Rahmbo and the rest of his "cabinet" leaving only Little Joey to fend off the reporters on his behalf.  But the sorry truth here is poor Little Joey Biden doesn't know what's going on either because he's not being brought into the inner circle.  He is a VP in name only by design. Even PEBO recognizes that Biden doesn't have as much class as Hillary in the foreign policy arena and she has little or none.

Does anyone really believe that PEBO has forgotten the nasty things Little Joey Biden said about him during the primaries?  When he looked straight into the camera and said "he is not ready to lead" and made the racist remarks about how clean he is and well spoken....well, needless to say, BHO ain't likely to forgive and forget.  Biden is a figurehead only and soon to have duct tape placed over his big mouth.

And the Paper Tiger will play White House.
