Obama helps strengthen General Electric-Putin ties

Reuters reports an interesting nugget in the wake of President Barack Obama's decision to grant Vladimir Putin his wish and kill the Eastern European missile shield:

Shortly after the pullback on the shield programme was announced, Russia's government said Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would meet several U.S. executives on Friday from firms including General Electric, Morgan Stanley  as well as TPG, one of the world's largest private equity firms

General Electric may be the company with the closest ties to the Obama administration (if not, GE is second only to Goldman Sachs), and here we see the company benefiting from an abrupt foreign policy change made by President Obama. But GE isn't the only company benefiting. Reuters paints the broader picture:

"U.S. companies have arguably lost out to some European companies in joint ventures, and better diplomacy will likely improve the chances for investors in the strategic sectors of the Russian economy," said Carlo Gallo, senior Russia analyst at London-based consultancy Control Risks.

GE CEO Jeff Immelt sits on Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, and GE owns MSNBC, the network famously friendly to Obama.

    So far, Obama's failing miserably

Cap-and-trade, Employee Free Choice Act, health care:

He goes on to say: "It’s entirely possible — nay, likely — that Obama will lose on all three big issues. He’ll probably take that personally. As he has pushed for the passage of his reforms, his public approval ratings have taken a beating, and voters have started to trust the Republicans more than his party on a host of issues."

Scheuer: Obama 'Doesn't Have a Clue' about Terror Threat to America

Thursday, September 10, 2009 7:11 PM

By: Jim Meyers

Eight years after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, the U.S. is still in "terrible shape" in the fight against terrorism, former CIA counterterrorism expert Michael Scheuer tells Newsmax.

Scheuer also said President Barack Obama "doesn't have a clue" about the realities of world terrorism.

Scheuer, whose latest book is "Marching Toward Hell: America and Islam After Iraq," spent several years as head of the CIA's Osama bin Laden unit.

Newsmax.TV's Kathleen Walter asked Scheuer why the U.S. still has not captured bin Laden.

"I think we are doing all we can with the number of troops and intelligence officers we have committed in Afghanistan," he said.

"Very few of them have time anymore to go after Osama bin Laden because they're trying to keep [President Hamid] Karzai in power and trying to build a democracy and trying to fight an insurgency.

"Mister Bush never sent enough people to Afghanistan, and very clearly as the situation has gotten worse Mister Obama does not intend to send enough people either.

"The reason we don't have him I think is simply we don’t have enough troops on the ground to find him and he's living in a place that has the highest mountains on earth."

Walter asked if the U.S. is safer or more vulnerable eight years after the 9/11 attacks.

"I think we would be hard put to say we're much safer than we were in 2001," Scheuer responded.

"We still don’t have an idea of where our enemy is. We're clearly on the defensive in Afghanistan. And if you step back and take a bigger look at the world, there are terrorists now being produced in places where there were no insurgencies back in 2001 — Somalia, Yemen, Mindanao in the Philippines.

"We're still faced with a situation that I think neither party has come to grips with...

"I think we're in terrible shape right now. We have to remember that al-Qaida's war goals are to help lead us to bankruptcy, to spread out our military forces and our intelligence services, and to create dissension in politics here at home. They're succeeding on all three of those.

"The key thing any administration has to do is control our borders, to close them and then regulate the entry of people, to give U.S. law enforcement at all levels a chance to figure out who is in our country and who is entering it."

Asked what the U.S. should do to slow down the spread of terrorism, Scheuer said: "At some point we need to begin to consider applying more military force when the option is presented to us. Certainly in Afghanistan we have a wide scope for killing many more of the enemy than we are.

"We also have to look at our problems with policy. Our foreign policy is really an inducement, a motivation for the enemy."

At the top of the list in that regard "is not healthcare, it's energy," he added. "We need to do something about energy to be able to disassociate ourselves from the tyrannies that govern the Middle East."

Walter asked what credit the Bush administration deserves for the fact the U.S. has not suffered another devastating terrorist attack since 9/11.

"I think we owe the Bush administration a vote of thanks for doing they thought was best to do in America's interests," Scheuer said.

"I was a severe critic of what they did because they didn’t do enough, but I never had any doubt in my mind that they were really intent on defending America. I thought they did it inadequately but I thought they intended to do it.

"The current administration has undercut virtually everything Mister Bush established and used to fight terrorism, as insufficient as that was. Mister Obama has dismantled virtually all of it without replacing it with anything.

"Both Afghanistan and Iraq are producing well-trained people who are going to fight America or attack America's interests around the world. So it's a spreading phenomenon, not a constricting one.

Such a comeback.  What a strong statement to make about the topic President Barack Hussein Obama.

If you notice BigSurprize whenever lulu can't defend her luvbug then she attacks the poster, she takes it personally as though you are insulting her (she doesn't get how this works yet).  She's just trying to defend her homeland man but sadly she doesn't have enough knowledge on the topics to do a very good job of it so she attacks you instead.

Barry is a Chicago thug.  Who doesn't know that?  He comes from the Community Organizer group of thugs.  He was trained under the best of them and he has the Saul Alinsky "Rules for Radicals book memorized, he worshiped him.  Come on, wake up.  These are facts.  He's quite proud of them, I don't know why you get so upset when we point them out, he doesn't.  He doesn't see that as an insult, he worked hard to achieve that status.

Rhambo, Axelrod, Michelle, Valerie Jarrett, Billy Bomber Ayers, Rev Wright, Father Phleger, all of them are Blago-like, they all come from the same political cesspool.  To pretend otherwise is just being disingenuous. Time to step out of lululand and start facing the facts, we have a straight up radical left wing President who will do what he can to take us as far left as he can.  He and the radical thugs he surrounds himself with, he said that "if you want to know who I am just look at those I surround myself with".  What else do you need to know?  Trying to help you out here so you don't look so foolish all the time.:cool:

It just goes to prove...the more things change the more they stay the same.  That would apply to both callmelou (w/too many name changes to list)...and our current president.  :D

Has it occurred to anyone else that maybe---just maybe--Obama went into the presidency counting on being a one-term president??  If so, it would explain his sense of urgency on these major issues.  Food for thought?

Shocker! Judge orders trial on eligibility issue
Arguments planned Jan. 11 for major Obama challenge

Is this the footprint of baby Barack Obama?

A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue.

In a highly anticipated hearing today before Carter, several motions were heard, including a resolution to long-standing questions about whether attorney Orly Taitz properly served notice on the defendants, which she had.

In a second ruling, Carter ordered that attorney Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation can be added to the case to represent plaintiffs Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson, who had been removed by an earlier court order. Drake, the vice presidential candidate for the American Independent Party, and Robinson, the party's chairman, also were restored to the case.

But the judge did not immediately rule on Taitz' motion to be granted discovery – that is the right to see the president's still-concealed records. Nor did Carter rule immediately on a motion to dismiss the case, submitted by the U.S. government, following discussion over Taitz' challenge to the work of a magistrate in the case.

The judge did comment that if there are legitimate constitutional questions regarding Obama's eligibility, they need to be addressed and resolved.

Carter ordered a hearing Oct. 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery.

If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 11 and the trial for two weeks later.

It has been said that Obama has a hidden agenda.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  However, he does have an inordinate fascination with himself to the point of excessive self-love.  His admiration for his own physical and mental attributes is obvious. Everything he does and says is testimony to that.

Ok, I challenge you to stop berating our current President for one week!  See if you can enjoy yourself in more positive ways, go watch a game or volunteer at the local schools.  I think you will feel much better after a week of being positive.

Have a great day!    I'm going to go and enjoy this beautiful day!

Bon Jour!!!   A grande welcome back!!  I am a confident of the lovely Ms. Boots who unceremoneously got booted off after someone took some offense to something she might or might not have said.  I won't say who complained, but her 'booting' was a big surprise (wink, wink).   I agree with your suggestion to Rants, but he is serving a self imposed sentence to be miserable for the next 7.5 years...  Au revoir!

Oh geez, why didn't I think of that.  I could follow your lead when President Bush was in office and take a break for a whole week and not say anything negative about our President.  Good idea SM2!!!  Oh wait, wasn't it you who despised President George W Bush, wasn't it you who said  horrible things about him personally and called him nasty names?  Well, then see, I'm following your lead...thank you for lighting the way... LOL ;)

Amazing how much you remind me of someone else on here...hmmmm, can't quite put my finger on it yet but when I do I will let you know....LOL

Just want to point out something really quick, if this is so evil on here, and you really just want to be positive, then why did you come on here?  Just to throw a negative stone at me?? :D I actually feel quite good and so do those who are discovering the same awful truth about the Messiah and his main man thugs he calls CZARS.  So, the more truth that comes out, the better I feel and I agree with you SM2;);)... let's all enjoy this day!  ;)

White House Prediction of $9.05 Trillion in New Federal Debt Is Predicated on Assumption Economy Will Grow Briskly for a Decade
Wednesday, September 02, 2009
By Matt Cover (CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration’s updated budget forecasts--which anticipate that the federal government will run up $9.05 trillion in new debt over the next decade--is predicated on the assumption of a robust rate of economic growth during that entire period, claiming that the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will grow at an average rate of 2.8 percent between 2009 and 2019.

If the economy does not grow as much or as persistently as the administration predicts federal deficit spending will be even greater than the administration estimates.

The administration predicts that while GDP--a measure of all goods and services produced in the economy--will shrink 2.8 percent this year, it will begin growing again sharply by 2011, reaching 4.3 percent by 2012 before leveling out at around three percent through 2019.

CNN Poll: Obama Has Lost Independents

CNN Poll: Obama Has Lost Independents

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 1:17 PM

By: Dan Weil

President Obama’s slippage in popularity continues.

A majority of independent voters, 53 percent, now disapprove of Obama’s job performance, according to a poll from CNN/Opinion Research Corp. conducted last week.

That marks the first time a CNN poll has shown a majority of independents turning against the president. Only 43 percent of independents now approve of Obama’s performance.
Obama's overall approval rating dropped 3 points from July and 8 points from June, to 53 percent. The amount of those disapproving rose 5 points from July and 8 points from June, to 45 percent.

To be sure, the president did gain support among Democrats, to 90 percent, up 3 points from July. Only 15 percent of Republicans approve, down 8 points from July.

Obama’s loss of support among independents may make it quite difficult for him to achieve his agenda, including healthcare reform.

"Obama won a majority of the vote among independents last year, and that helped put him in the White House," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "Losing their support makes it more difficult for Obama to govern from the center."

As for specific issues, Obama’s rating on healthcare plunged 13 points since March. His rating on the deficit plummeted 16 points, his rating on taxes slipped 17 point points and his rating on the war in Afghanistan skidded 18 points since March.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 30% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11

Most voters now expect that the situation in Afghanistan will get worse over the next six months. That’s up fourteen points over the past month. At the same time, the number worried about a terrorist attack in the United States has declined.

The climate change legislation passed by the House of Representatives earlier this summer receives mixed reviews from the public.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern
Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. That’s down a point from yesterday and the lowest level of total approval yet measured for Obama. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove. See recent demographic highlights from the tracking polls.

In addition to our daily tracking, Rasmussen Reports has released a month-by-month review of the President’s Approval ratings. This allows a longer-term look at trends. In August, President Obama’s full-month ratings fell below 50% for the first time.
