This is a transcript from a phone call into Rush's show from a listener....:cool:.

RUSH: All right. What was your call about?

CALLER:  Okay, well, this is what I called about. I recently finished reading Alinsky's book Rules for Radicals, which seems to really be the playbook for the Obama administration.

RUSH:  It is.

CALLER:  And there are three short quotes I just wanted to highlight.  The first is, he says, "The organizer's job is to get people pregnant with hope and a desire for change," and when people read this book they'll see "hope and change" is a theme throughout the book.

RUSH:  Yep.

CALLER:  Second of all, I was struck by how cynical Alinsky was and how he must have been searching for meaning in his own life because he wrote: "People are in a desperate search for personal identity, so let people know: 'At least you are alive.'" So my guess is that Obama was attracted to this because he must have felt growing up abandoned by his father and often his mother...

RUSH:  And a brother living in a hut and really not knowing where he's from.

CALLER: Right.

RUSH: Yeah, that's a good point.

CALLER:  Searching for his own identity.  Now, third -- this is the last one I wanted to bring up -- Alinsky had an absolute contempt for the middle class.  While he was attempting to go organize them for his own objectives, he wrote, "Our rebels have contemptuously rejected the values and way of life of middle class."  So, Rush, fundamentally I don't think Obama, like Alinski, really understands the middle class, its dreams and aspirations.

RUSH:  Oh, you're dead-on right about that.  He doesn't understand the middle class.  He holds everybody in contempt.  He's an elitist.  Alinsky was an elitist!  This book is all about how to use those people and manipulate them to get power for yourself while they think you're doing something for them.

Open Letter to the President:

Dear Mr.  President:

The extreme partisanship being exhibited in Washington is distressing.  It has given rise to the use of invective that accomplishes nothing but foster further polarization of the political parties.

White House leadership has increasingly become more inconsistent, contradictory, misleading and self-serving.  The will of the people is often marginalized.  The rhetoric has become relatively meaningless as actions belie words.  Listening is a rare commodity.

Congress’ conduct is disgraceful.  Member’s actions seem to be more on getting re-elected at the expense of doing the people’s business in a responsible manner.  Principled leadership is in short supply.

People have a right to expect much more from their elected officials.  The 2010 elections will afford them the opportunity to be heard.

Sincerely,

White House set for backlash on national debt
By Edward Luce and Krishna Guha in Washington

Published: August 24 2009 19:49 | Last updated: August 24 2009 19:49

The Obama administration is bracing for a political backlash on Tuesday when it issues national debt numbers showing federal debt rising by $9,000bn over the next decade – significantly higher than the forecast it made earlier this year.

The revision, which will add $2,000bn (€1,400bn, £1,200bn) to the White House’s initial projection made in February, comes amid growing public jitters about the scale of US national debt, with one recent opinion poll showing Americans giving higher priority to reducing deficits than to reviving the economy.

It also comes amid growing doubts as to whether Mr Obama has sufficient political capital to push through his $1,000bn 10-year reform of the US healthcare system, even though the president has insisted the proposed expansion in healthcare coverage will be entirely self-funding.

Mr Obama, who has seen steadily declining public support for healthcare reform in the past six weeks, is expected to recalibrate his argument next week when he returns from his short vacation in Martha’s Vineyard.

“These debt numbers are going to strongly refocus the whole debate about healthcare reform towards fiscal discipline and away from expanding coverage,” says Maya McGuineas, president of the committee for a responsible federal budget. “The whole direction of the debt is going to make policy reforms of any kind increasingly difficult to achieve.”

At Tuesday’s mid-term budget review, the Office of Management and Budget is also expected to revise downwards this year’s projected budget deficit to just under $1,600bn, having removed a $250bn “placeholder” it had inserted in February for a possible expansion of the banking bail-out – the troubled asset relief programme. Given the return to profitability of many banks since April, that is no longer considered necessary.

However, most of the attention is likely to focus on the longer-term picture, which will result in the near doubling of US national debt to 82 per cent of gross domestic product by 2019 – levels not seen since the second world war. Mounting concern over the economic – and even national security – implications of exploding US national debt is also likely to complicate any attempts by the Obama administration to embark on a second fiscal stimulus, which many economists say may prove necessary by 2011 as the effects of this year’s $787bn stimulus begin to wane.

According to Goldman Sachs, the need for a new stimulus will be most acutely felt in 2011 when the combination of the expiration of the tax cuts George W. Bush enacted in 2001 and 2003 and the withdrawal of the stimulus will reduce GDP growth by 1.6 per cent.

But economists worry that political concerns about the deficits will make this impossible. Others worry about crowding out and the risk of a back-up in real interest rates. For the time being, there is still little private sector debt issuance, so the US government faces little competition for global savings other than from other countries with large deficits. But many fear sustained large deficits will eventually push up real interest rates, crowding out private activity. If this happened too soon, it could undermine recovery; even if it came later it could undermine long-term growth prospects.

Barack Obama' Beach Reading List

As the Obamas enjoy their week-long vacation on Martha's Vineyard, we've learned from White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton what will be in the president's book bag when he heads to the beach.
The official presidential reading list has a little fiction, a little non-fiction, some history and a close look at the global environmental crisis. Here's what President Obama will be reading, along with links to the Amazon page and the "Publisher's Weekly" blurb if you want to read along for fun.
1. HR3200--
The House Healthcare bill-- al 1,018 pages.

Obama Numbers Keep Falling

Matthew Mosk and Christina Bellantoni THE WASHINGTON TIMES

President Obama set out for a weeklong family vacation Sunday facing the first stiff headwind of his presidency, with public polls showing his popularity has dipped as he has attempted an overhaul of the nation's ailing health care system.

A series of national surveys has confirmed what was becoming clear as large groups of protesters rallied outside the speeches and town-hall events the president hosted last week in Western states.

The Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll released Sunday showed that 41 percent of voters strongly disapprove of Mr. Obama's performance as president, compared with 27 percent who strongly approved. Rasmussen said those numbers are the worst ever for Mr. Obama. The 14-point gap between the two numbers is more than double the six-point difference in the Rasmussen poll as recently as Thursday.

Got this in an email this morning.  Dr. Krauthammer nails it!

Dr. Krauthammer is on Fox News. He is an M.D. and a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down.  Last Monday was a profound evening, hearing Dr. Charles Krauthammer speak to the Center for the American Experiment. He is brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright and careful in his analysis, and never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments and views. He is a fiscal conservative, and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.

Summary of his comments:

        1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's behind the mask. The taking down of the Clinton dynasty by a political neophyte was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

        2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton. He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

        3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can’t be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .

        4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial service industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his health care program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to20control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God forbid!

        5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy stor e. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can’t work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.

        6. Obama doesn’t really see himself as President of the United States , but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

        7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego, and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

        8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. Republica ns are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state’s rights.

        9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don’t have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn’t work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama’s allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

        10. The election was over in mid-Sept ember when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

        11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we’re right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it's far too late.

Bon Jour!! Ms. Surpy!!  You seem to be obsessed with me and I am so flattered.  I do wonder where you hear the French accent tho...You  are hearing voices in your head again?  If you have good healthcare, someone may help you with that..Gino says everyone has healthcare already so I think you should get get help with those voices with french accents.  I shall pray for you.  Bon Soir!

I never said you had a FRENCH accent, mon ami...where do you see that?  Maybe you should get your eyes checked soon...the devil is in the details and you're start'n to lose your grip on 'em.  Take care, darl'n...and don't forget to lock up when you leave here tonight.  :D
Bon Jour!!  LOL..what sort of accent do you hear from the voices in your head?  I told the lovely Ms. Boots that I am so flattered you are into me and asked where I'll be this weekend..she thinks I should be worried because you are so obsessed but I think this obsession you have is very sweet.  ...you are very into me and I wonder if your interest is what Gino would call normal?  I would prefer that you not call me for lunch until I feel comfortable about you stalking me, okie dokie?  Would you like to be a Tweeter follower of me so I may keep you informed of where I am?  Perhaps you can so other things such as school so you might develop an opinion about issues ask then you'd be able to discuss them instead of trying to sound like a hillbobby, oui?    LOL....Bon Soir, Ms. Surpy.

Hmmm, I guess it's time for me to address this "obsession" you like to think I have for you...LOL:D...I could say the same about you follow'n me (and a couple others on here) from thread to thread.  I don't make stupid accusations like that though because it's not true AND apparently I'm smarter than you are, BB...;)...so once again, let me explain something to you...so listen up.

You and I may dabble a bit in some of the political issues on this forum...but neither of us have chosen to do it at great length.   That's because you and I have taken on the role of kibitzers...go look it up, mon ami.  That's not to say we're alike...(cuz our k-styles differ...and I'm better at it than you :D)...but it's much more fun than working with all those facts and figures, no?

Now, if you still wanna keep repeating yourself by whip'n out your "obsessed" card on me....then I suggest you either stop responding to me...OR...report me to the webmaster (as I could probably do to you if I was so inclined).  The moral of this way too long story...you'll never get better as a kibitzer if you get stuck on one issue all the time.  Enough said...go enjoy your mini-vacation with the kids.  :D

Bon Soir!!!  I think I saw you wave to me, yes, and I am in the ocean!  I see you like to write to me and that is fine except I still think it's a harmless obession.  So: this thread is about President Obama.  You have nothing to say about him.  I am glad you are OK with him as I am....I think we agree them that he is doing a bon job and we are glad he has won, oui?  Now back to the beach since this laptop is getting wet from le waves....Bon Soir!

So let's see, in your fantasy world...not only am I allegedly obsessed with you (yuck......creepy shudder and puke :P) but apparently I think BHO has done a "bon" job...and "we" are glad he won?  Uhhh, nope...no way no how...not in your life time...no can do...no way Jose...not even close...not even on a dare - and I'm not even a Republican!   Si et quand il fixe ce qui est brisé par rapport à réinventer la roue...alors nous allons parler d'un travail bien fait!  Okie Dokie?  ;):D:cool:  Tomorrow's a new day...do something fun with the little ones, oui?

Bon Jour!!!  Hee hee, you cannot stay away from me, no?  Perhaps you would wish to be a Tweet follower and track my every move, yes?  I will look for a book about learning francais for you.  You are a nice person but your French is rather poor, if you don't object to me saying that.  Plus I think since this is American, we should write en Anglais...I do the best I can with that...if we have lunch, you will be surprised how heavy my accent is...I am happy we can agree on the President doing the best job he can.  I don't think you voted for him but i am happy he makes you happy.  Well, mon cher...I am am tired tonight and cannot stay up as I usually do.  Did you hear the President on TV today.  He is so direct, so capable, oui?  Kiss your hubby for me, bon soir!!

Charlie Cook: Democrats 'Out of Control'

Friday, August 21, 2009 11:00 AM

By: Dave Eberhart

Checking the 2010 election landscape, Charlie Cook, editor and publisher of The Cook Political Report, writes in his most recent column that he can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.

"These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats," Cook wrote.

"Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low," he continued.

"Many veteran Congressional election watchers, including Democratic ones, report an eerie sense of déjà vu, with a consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats," Cook, the political analyst for the National Journal Group added ominously.

In reaching his conclusion, Cook noted that President Barack Obama’s job approval rating in both their Aug. 16-18 and Aug. 17-19 averages was just 51 percent — the lowest level of his presidency. The latter sampling showed his disapproval up to 42 percent, matching his all-time low hit in the Aug. 15-17 tracking poll.

As to Congress, Cook pointed to a new Gallup poll showing that body’s job disapproval at 70 percent among independents — concluding that the post-recess reality world could feel considerably different than when Congress left in August.

"We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess," Cook opined.

“All of this is happening against a backdrop of an economy that appears to be rebounding and a resurgent stock market underscores how much the President’s and his party’s legislative agenda have contributed to these poor poll numbers,” Cook concluded.

Drill, Baby-- but not here.

President Obama has opposed any expanded oil drilling off American shores largely on environmental grounds, turning a deaf ear to conservative cries of "Drill, Baby, Drill."

But now Obama may start hearing cries of "foul" after the U.S. Export-Import Bank promised Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil company, $2 billion in loan guarantees to help finance lucrative drilling off the shores of Rio De Janeiro.

Some see a contradiction in an executive branch agency, independent but with board members appointed by the president, facilitating abroad the very kind of energy exploration Obama opposes domestically.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday he wasn't prepared to address the issue.

"I have not seen the story," he said. "I'd have to take a look."--DUH.
